A filter element and/or filter assembly such as for engine air filtration is provided that may include a filter housing, a pre-cleaner or cover, a primary filter element and optionally a secondary filter element. Different components may share a common seal to seal against unfiltered airflow. For example the secondary filter and the primary filter may use the same seal that may be carried by the primary filter. The secondary filter may also surround the primary filter.

The methodology for construction also allows for modular assembly in various arrangements including a stacked configuration. An electronic cigarette particularly adaptable to vaporize liquid material also having exhale filter function is disclosed herein. The exhale function is useful to prevent second hand smoke in an enclosed environment, for example. An innovative diverter valve assembly comprises a unique duckbill valve configuration diverting air through a cooker chamber and into a mouthpiece in an inhale function and diverting exhaled air around the cooker chamber in the exhale function and through a filter assembly. A preferred embodiment further introduces a unique shape to the smoking instrument being elliptical in the cross-section and tapering to proximal and distal ends.

A system for extracting polluted air in the vicinity of a road surface, the system comprising at least one inlet assembly arranged to be recessed into the road surface and to be connected to an extraction duct, said at least one inlet assembly comprising: a pod arranged to protrude above the level of the road surface and to be driven over; and one or more intakes located within the pod, the pod defining a passage arranged to be connected to an extraction duct.

A self-contained air filtration system is disclosed herein. The system includes a processor. The processor can receive data from one or several components of the system and can provide control signals to one or several components of the system. The system can include a housing. The housing can include: a reservoir portion; and a greenhouse portion. The greenhouse portion can connect to the reservoir portion via a grow tray. A top of the reservoir portion and the greenhouse portion define an enclosed volume. The greenhouse portion can include an inlet aperture and an outlet aperture. The inlet aperture can be obstructed by an inlet filter such that air flowing into the greenhouse portion passes through the inlet filter, and the greenhouse portion can be connected to a fan that can propel air through the inlet aperture and out of the outlet aperture.

A road vehicle with a vehicle frame and a rear axle connected to the vehicle frame is provided with an ambient air purification device with filter elements for removing dust, particulate matter, and gases from ambient air. The ambient air purification device is arranged transverse to a longitudinal vehicle axis in an exterior region of the road vehicle at a vehicle rear of the road vehicle in an underfloor region such that at least the filter elements are arranged behind the rear axle of the road vehicle in a travel direction of the road vehicle. The ambient air purification device is received in an installation space of the vehicle frame. The ambient air purification device is flowed through in longitudinal vehicle direction. A free outflow zone of the ambient air purification device is arranged, in travel direction of the road vehicle, behind the ambient air purification device.
