A water filtration device comprising: a diffusiophoretic water filter having at least one channel having an inlet and an outlet and for receiving a colloidal suspension at the inlet and flowing the colloidal suspension between the inlet and the outlet in a flow direction, the channel being in contact with a diffusiophoretic-inducing membrane. Other devices and methods are also disclosed.
HIERARCHICAL TRIPLY PERIODIC MINIMAL SURFACE STRUCTURES AS HEAT EXCHANGERS AND REACTORS
The present disclosure relates to a transport mechanism apparatus for transporting at least one of a gas or a fluid. The transport mechanism may have an inlet, an outlet and a triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structure. The TPMS structure is formed in a layer-by-layer three dimensional (3D) printing operation to include cells propagating in three dimensions, where the cells include wall portions having openings, and where the cells form a plurality of flow paths throughout the transport mechanism from the inlet to the outlet, and where the cells form the inlet and the outlet.
PORTABLE DIFFUSIOPHORETIC WATER FILTRATION DEVICE AND RELATED METHODS
A water filtration device includes a diffusiophoretic water filter having an inlet and an outlet and for receiving a colloidal suspension at the inlet and flowing the colloidal suspension between the inlet and the outlet in a flow direction; a diffusiophoretic-inducing membrane; a cover, the membrane and the cover defining a plurality of channels extending between the inlet and the outlet; an outlet splitter for the plurality of channels being fixed with respect to the membrane or the cover, the cover and membrane being flexible and configured to permit rolling up of the membrane and the cover. A related method is also provided.
Diffusiophoretic water filtration device, membrane, output splitter and inlet manifold and related methods
Continuous process for cleaning process waste air obtained in the production of silicones
Organosilicon compounds in a process exhaust stream from silicone production are removed by contacting the exhaust stream with a semipermeable silicone membrane which is selectively permeable to organosilicon compounds and oxygen relative to nitrogen. The pressure on the permeate side of the membrane is preferably less than the pressure on the retentate side.
Methods and systems for coating hollow fiber membrane contactors
A method for coating hollow fiber membranes is disclosed. The method includes preparing a continuous circulating circuit, which includes a membrane contactor module, two liquid reservoirs containing a solvent, two pipeline paths, and at least one injector. The membrane module include a plurality of hollow fiber membranes with an inside area and an outside area, and a housing, where the plurality of hollow fiber membranes are extended inside the housing. The method further include forming a plurality of wetted hollow fiber membranes with the solvent by circulating the solvent through the continuous circulating circuit, filling at least one of the two liquid reservoirs with a coating solution, forming a coating layer on a surface of at least one of the inside area or the outside area of the plurality of wetted hollow fiber membranes by circulating the coating solution through the continuous circulating circuit, and forming a uniform coating layer by injecting the coating solution by the injector for intrusion of the coating solution through the coating layer.
MICROFLUIDIC DIFFUSION DEVICES AND SYSTEMS, AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING AND USING SAME
Disclosed herein are rolled-membrane microfluidic diffusion devices and corresponding methods of manufacture. Also disclosed herein are three-dimensionally printed microfluidic devices and corresponding methods of manufacture. Optionally, the disclosed microfluidic devices can function as artificial lung devices.
BORATE-CONTAINING MEMBRANES FOR GAS SEPARATION
Membranes, methods of making the membranes, and methods of using the membranes are described herein. The membranes can comprise a support layer, and a selective polymer layer disposed on the support layer. The selective polymer layer can comprise an oxidatively stable carrier and a borate additive dispersed within a hydrophilic polymer matrix. The oxidatively stable carrier can comprise a quaternaryammonium hydroxide carrier (e.g., a mobile carrier such as a small molecule quaternaryammonium in hydroxide, or a fixed carrier such as a quaternaryammonium hydroxide-containing polymer), a quaternaryammonium fluoride carrier (e.g., a mobile carrier such as a small molecule quaternaryammonium fluoride, or a fixed carrier such as a quaternaryammonium fluoride-containing polymer), or a combination thereof. The borate additive can comprise a borate salt, a boric acid, or a combination thereof. The membranes can exhibit selective permeability to gases. As such, the membranes can be for the selective removal of carbon dioxide and/or hydrogen sulfide from hydrogen and/or nitrogen.
