FILTER MEDIA COMPRISING ADSORPTIVE PARTICLES
Filter media comprising adsorptive particles are generally described. In some embodiments, the adsorptive particles are present in a relatively large amount, in a layer discrete from one or more other layers and/or fiber webs also present in the filter media, and/or in a layer that comprises a relatively low amount of fibers. In some embodiments, the filter media further comprises a non-woven fiber web comprising fibers with relatively small diameters.
Personal Air Management Methods and Systems for Reducing or Blocking Exposure to Airborne Pathogens
The present specification, in some embodiments, describes a personal wear device that direct the flow of air away from a person's face, reducing or blocking the flow of infectious pathogens towards a patient's naso-oral area thus reducing the risk of inhalation of infectious or noxious pathogens. In another embodiment, the present specification describes a personal air management mask system for use by a patient for reducing or preventing exposure to and inhalation of infected aerosol during a medical procedure.
NONWOVEN FABRIC, NONWOVEN FABRIC MANUFACTURING METHOD, AND FILTER
A nonwoven fabric is formed of fibers of 0.10 μm or more and 5.00 μm or less. The nonwoven fabric includes a coarse layer portion and a dense layer portion. In the coarse layer portion, a void volume Pc is at least 90% and an average pore diameter Dc is in a range of 0.5 μm or more and 50 μm or less. In the dense layer portion, a void volume Pd is at least 70% and a relative standard deviation of pore diameter distribution is 20% or less.
Filter media including adhesives and/or oleophobic properties
Articles and methods involving filter media are generally provided. In certain embodiments, the filter media includes at least a first layer, a second layer, and an adhesive resin positioned between the first layer and the second layer. In some embodiments, the first layer may be a pre-filter layer or a support layer. The second layer may, for example, comprise fibers formed by a solution spinning process and/or may comprise fine fibers. In some embodiments, the adhesive resin may be present in a relatively low amount and/or may have a low glass transition temperature. The filter media as a whole may have one or more advantageous properties, including one or more of a high stiffness, a high bond strength between the first layer and the second layer, a high gamma, and/or a low increase in air resistance after being subjected to an IPA vapor discharge. The filter media may be, for example, a HEPA filter and/or an ULPA filter.
SUMP PUMP SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR REMOVING SYNTHETIC ESTER-BASED FLUIDS FROM AN EMULSION
A polishing filter employed within a sump pump system for removing mineral oils, natural ester, and synthetic ester-based fluids from an emulsion is provided. The polishing filter is disposed within a sump pump barrier and is gravity-fed a synthetic ester and water based emulsion via a polishing filter conduit. The polishing filter removes excess synthetic ester-based fluids from a water/oil emulsion fluid flowing through a barrier canister disposed within the sump pump barrier above the polishing filter and releases a resultant filtered fluid. The polishing filter cartridge contains a filtration media with a hydrophilic composition for the capture of synthetic ester-based fluid having a surface tension dissimilar to water, and the hydrophilic composition of the media has a surface energy greater than or equal to 35 dynes per centimeter.
COMPOSITE VIRUCIDAL FILTER MEDIA
A composite virucidal filter media is described. The filter media comprises a fibrous substrate comprising a plurality of intermingled fibers, a low cost, nontoxic, hydrophilic polymer without acidic functional groups deposited on a surface of the fibers without the formation of a continuous coating layer on the substrate, and a virucidal metal, a virucidal metal-containing compound, or combinations thereof deposited on the surface of the fibers comprising the hydrophilic polymer without acidic functional groups. The hydrophilic polymer without acidic functional groups can be charged or non-charged. Methods of making virucidal fibrous filter media are also described.
FILTER MEDIA COMPRISING FIBRILLATED FIBERS AND GLASS FIBERS
Filter media comprising non-woven fiber webs having one or more advantageous physical properties are generally described. In some embodiments, a filter media and/or non-woven fiber web described herein comprises a combination of fibers that results in enhanced physical properties. For example, the non-woven fiber web may comprise a combination of fiber types that is advantageous, such as a combination comprising fibrillated fibers, glass fibers, and/or binder fibers. In some cases, the filter media and/or non-woven fiber web comprising the combination of fibers may be formed into undulations (e.g., by a creping and/or microcreping process) to further enhance the physical properties of the filter media and/or non-woven fiber.
FILTER ELEMENT, FILTER MEDIA, AND METHODS OF MAKING SAME
A filter element including a filter media and methods for making the same are provided. The filter element includes a support core surrounded by a tubular ring of filter media. A first end of the tubular ring of filter media is coupled to a first end cap and a second end of the tubular ring of filter media coupled to a second end cap. The tubular ring of filter media includes a carrier media layer, a coarse filter media layer, a fine filtration media layer, a water-capturing media layer, and an outer wrap.
