Nanofibrous filter
There is provided a nanofibrous filter comprising a substrate and self-assembled nanofibers deposited on the substrate. The self-assembled nanofibers comprise -conjugated molecules self-assembled by non-covalent interactions, wherein the -conjugated molecules are phthalocyanine derivative molecules or diketopyrrolopyrrole derivative molecules. There is also provided a method of preparing the nanofibrous filter.
RETAINING MATERIAL FOR POLLUTION CONTROL ELEMENT, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND POLLUTION CONTROL DEVICE
A retaining material that can sufficiently maintain the function of retaining a pollution control element in a pollution control device at high temperature. In one aspect, the retaining material has a mat shape and contains inorganic fiber material, with the retaining material containing: a surface layer containing inorganic colloid particles; and an internal region positioned further to the inside than the surface layer, impregnated with inorganic colloid particles and organic binder; wherein the surface layer contains inorganic colloid particles at a higher concentration than the internal region; and the amount of inorganic colloid particles in the internal region is 1 mass % to 10 mass % based on the total mass of the retaining material.
Polycarbonate resin powder and method for transporting same
Provided is a polycarbonate resin powder, including a polycarbonate-polyorganosiloxane copolymer, in which an amount of particles each having a particle diameter of 300 m or less in an entirety of the powder is 60 mass % or less.
FINE FIBER MEDIA LAYER
Disclosed are improved polymer materials. Also disclosed are fine fiber materials that can be made from the improved polymeric materials in the form of microfiber and nanofiber structures. The microfiber and nanofiber structures can be used in a variety of useful applications including the formation of filter materials.
CARBON FIBER COMPOSITE, A MEDIUM INCORPORATING THE CARBON FIBER COMPOSITE, AND A RELATED METHOD
Carbon fiber composite additives, media incorporating the carbon fiber composites, and related methods are provided herein. In some aspects, a composition includes at least one medium; and a carbon fiber composite incorporated with the at least one medium, the carbon fiber composite including one or more carbon fibers with an epoxy resin matrix applied thereto to produce a composition having improved characteristics and filtration performance.
Compositions for reducing inhalation of toxic air pollution components
The present invention relates to a composition, textile, and mask for reducing the inhalation of pollutants. The composition includes an aqueous solution of an inorganic iodide compound, a metal phthalocyanine, and a polymeric binder. The inorganic iodide can be cuprous iodide, the metal phthalocyanine can be iron phthalocyanine, and the polymeric binder can be polyvinylpyrrolidone or polyvinyl alcohol. This pollutant-inactivating composition neutralizes pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, ozone, volatile organic compounds and other unpleasant airborne agents, without requiring elevated temperatures or bulky canisters containing adsorbents. Optionally, a humectant can also be incorporated into the coating solution to retain moisture in the active filter matrix, which enhances the activity of the composition to inactivate oxidizing gases and other toxic constituents of air pollution.
Aluminosilicates and coatings made therefrom for VOC removal
Amorphous aluminosilicates are disclosed, and these amorphous aluminosilicates are characterized by a unique combination of high surface area, low oil absorption, and a significant fraction of the total pore volume resulting from micropores. These amorphous aluminosilicates can be used in various paint and coating applications, with the resultant dried or solid film capable of removing VOC's from the surrounding air.
Filtration materials using fiber blends that contain strategically shaped fibers and/or charge control agents
A filtration material comprising a blend of polypropylene and acrylic fibers of round, flat, dog bone, oval or kidney bean shape in any size from 0.08 to 3.3 Dtex. A preferred blend contains about 50 weight percent polypropylene fibers and about 50 weight percent acrylic fibers. The fibers can be blended ranging from 90:10 to 10:90 polypropylene to acrylic. The shape contains 25 weight percent round, flat, oval, dog bone and kidney bean shapes. The fiber blend contains 25 weight percent of at least one size between 0.08 and 3.3 Dtex. Electret fibers incorporated within these blends have 0.02 to 33 weight percent of a charge control agent. These fibers can be used in producing electret material by corona or triboelectric charging methods.
Filter media including a waved filtration layer
Filter media including a waved filtration layer are described herein. The filtration layer may be held in a waved configuration by a support layer. In some cases, the filtration layer may have a combination of characteristics (e.g., mean flow pore size, basis weight, amongst others) that can lead to enhanced filtration performance (e.g., reduced air permeability decrease), in particular, in high humidity environments. The filter media may be used to form a variety of filter elements for use in various applications. In some embodiments, at least a surface of the filtration layer is hydrophilic.
