The filter media may further include a water repellant (e.g., a fluorinated species) to impart desirable properties to the media such as high water repellency. The filter media may also have a high efficiency as a function of pressure drop (i.e., high gamma values). In some embodiments, the filter media includes a fiber web which may be formed of various components such as glass fibers. The fiber web can also include additional components such as synthetic fibers, binder components, as well as other additives. The media may be incorporated into a variety of filter element products.
BLOOD PROCESSING FILTER, METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME, AND METHOD FOR REMOVING LEUKOCYTE
An object is to provide a blood processing filter favorable in both of the effectiveness (leukocyte removing performance) and the safety (reduction in the amount of elutable substances). The object can be achieved by a blood processing filter comprising a filtration medium including a polyester fiber, wherein a surface area of the filtration medium is 6.0 m.sup.2 or more, and a maximum absorbance of an aqueous extract of the blood processing filter in the range from 240 to 245 nm is 0.03 or less.
MOISTURE ABSORBING FABRRIC BLEND
A moisture-retentive fabric medium includes a hydrophilic, thermoplastic polyester fiber as a blend of from 10-905% or 20-80% by total weight of textile fibers and 90-10% or 80-20% by total weight of hydrophilic textile fibers and less than 0.5% by weight of total fabric medium as microfibrillated cellulose fiber and less than 0.05% by weight superabsorbent polymers, the polyester having a melting point between 190-500 F when measured in accordance with ASTM D-3418.
AIR FILTER WITH PATHOGEN MONITORING AND INACTIVATION
An improved technology for inactivation of viruses, for example the SARS-CoV-2 virus that is causing the Covid-19 pandemic, is described. The technology can include a device that includes a substrate coated in a polymer that is infused with a pathogen inactivating material. In various embodiments, at a given time, a portion of the pathogen inactivating material is exposed to the environment, and the device is configured to periodically or intermittently expose additional pathogen inactivating material to the environment. For example, the polymer can be ablative or sacrificial.
Cyclonic vehicular traffic pollution control system
A filter may remove PM.sub.2.5 and/or other airborne pollutants, which filter has fibers of an average diameter of no more than 500 nm, the fibers of at least 90 wt. % polyacrylonitrile, relative to all fibers in the filter; and a catalyst of at least 90 wt. % TiO.sub.2, relative to all catalytic metals in the filter, dispersed onto the fibers. The fibers need not be charged. The TiO.sub.2 may be condensed or precipitated onto the fibers out of a liquid containing the TiO.sub.2 and the fibers by simple methods. The catalyst may be activated by UV irradiation to decompose particulate matter having an average particle size of 2.5 μm or less, i.e., PM.sub.2.5, and/or other airborne pollutants from air. Such filters may be implemented around areas of vehicle traffic, e.g., as elements of traffic lights, and may be used to controllably purify polluted air.
METHOD FOR ENHANCING METHANOGENESIS IN ANAEROBIC DIGESTION OF MUNICIPAL SLUDGE BY UTILIZING A FILTER SCREEN STRUCTURE
The disclosure relates to a method for enhancing methanogenesis in anaerobic digestion of municipal sludge by utilizing a filter screen structure, comprising: arranging a filter screen structure with titanium or titanium alloy as the framework and Fe.sub.3O.sub.4 as the coating in the anaerobic digestion system to accelerate the rate of hydrolysis and acidification, and increase the proportion of methane in biogas. Compared with the prior art, the disclosure increases the contact between Fe.sub.3O.sub.4 and anaerobic microorganisms by means of the screen structure; the stable crystal structure of Fe.sub.3O.sub.4 ensures the sustainability as an electron carrier while enriching electroactive microorganisms; titanium or titanium alloy, as a material with high strength, corrosion resistance, good biocompatibility, and good conductivity, can form a good match with Fe.sub.3O.sub.4 and assist in promoting the electron transfer; the disclosure has the advantages of low cost, high income, no need of repeated dosing and stable effect, and could strengthen the oxidation and decomposition of organic matter in the anaerobic digestion, accelerate the rate of methanogenesis, and increase the gas production.
ANTIMICROBIAL FILTER MEDIA, PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF, AND AIR CLEANER COMPRISING SAME
An antimicrobial filter media, which includes a non-woven fabric; and an antimicrobial agent bound to the nonwoven fabric by a binder, the antimicrobial agent including silver sodium zirconium hydrogenphosphate and thiabendazole, and the silver sodium zirconium hydrogenphosphate and the thiabendazole are employed at a weight ratio of 1:1.5 to 1.5:1, to an air cleaner including the same, and to a process for preparing the same. The antimicrobial filter media includes silver sodium zirconium hydrogenphosphate and thiabendazole, as an antimicrobial agent, at a specific weight ratio. As a result, it is possible to effectively filter harmful microorganisms to supply purified air, to have excellent antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties at the same time, and to further enhance the durability and lifespan characteristics by virtue of excellent filter damage prevention effect.

COMPOSITIONS FOR REDUCING INHALATION OF TOXIC AIR POLLUTION COMPONENTS
The present invention relates to a composition, textile, and mask for reducing the inhalation of pollutants. The composition includes an aqueous solution of an inorganic iodide compound, a metal phthalocyanine, and a polymeric binder. The inorganic iodide can be cuprous iodide, the metal phthalocyanine can be iron phthalocyanine, and the polymeric binder can be polyvinylpyrrolidone or polyvinyl alcohol. This pollutant-inactivating composition neutralizes pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, ozone, volatile organic compounds and other unpleasant airborne agents, without requiring elevated temperatures or bulky canisters containing adsorbents. Optionally, a humectant can also be incorporated into the coating solution to retain moisture in the active filter matrix, which enhances the activity of the composition to inactivate oxidizing gases and other toxic constituents of air pollution.
