Calcium hydroxide-containing compositions and associated systems and methods
Calcium hydroxide-containing compositions can be manufactured by slaking quicklime, and subsequently drying and milling the slaked product. The resulting calcium hydroxide-containing composition can have a size, steepness, pore volume, and/or other features that render the compositions suitable for treatment of exhaust gases and/or removal of contaminants. In some embodiments, the calcium hydroxide-containing compositions can include a D.sub.10 from about 0.5 microns to about 4 microns, a D.sub.90 less than about 30 microns, and a ratio of D.sub.90 to D.sub.10 from about 8 to about 20, wherein individual particles include a surface area greater than or equal to about 25 m.sup.2/g.
Process for the production of a zeolitic material via solvent-free interzeolitic conversion
A process for preparing a zeolitic material containing YO.sub.2 and X.sub.2O.sub.3, where Y and X represent a tetravalent element and a trivalent element, respectively, is described. The process includes (1) a step of preparing a mixture containing one or more structure directing agents, seed crystals, and a first zeolitic material containing YO.sub.2 and X.sub.2O.sub.3 and having FAU-, GIS-, MOR-, and/or LTA-type framework structures; and (2) a step of heating the mixture for obtaining a second zeolitic material containing YO.sub.2 and X.sub.2O.sub.3 and having a different framework structure than the first zeolitic material. The mixture prepared in (1) and heated in (2) contains 1000 wt % or less of H.sub.2O based on 100 wt % of YO.sub.2 in the framework structure of the first zeolitic material. A zeolitic material obtainable and/or obtained by the process and its use are also described.
HYDROCARBON ADSORBENT WITH METAL-IMPREGNATED ZEOLITE PARTICLE HAVING REGULAR MESOPORE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
The present invention relates to a hydrocarbon adsorbent with metal-impregnated zeolite particles having regular mesopores and a manufacturing method therefor. The hydrocarbon adsorbent includes a metal cation and a metal oxide that are impregnated in zeolite particles, in particular, the zeolite particles include regularly formed mesopores having a size of 2 to 10. By adjusting a Si/Al ratio and mesoporosity of the mesopores, a hydrocarbon adsorbent may have increased adsorption capacity for hydrocarbons in a cold-start section and can rapidly oxidize the hydrocarbon upon desorption thereof, thereby reducing the discharge of exhaust gas produced in automobiles and industries.
Sorbent and devices for capturing, stabilizing and recovering volatile and semi-volatile compounds
The present invention provides an improved sorbent and corresponding device(s) and uses thereof for the capture and stabilization of volatile organic compounds (VOC) or semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOC) from a gaseous atmosphere. The sorbent is capable of rapid and high uptake of one or more compounds and provides quantitative release (recovery) of the compound(s) when exposed to elevated temperature and/or organic solvent. Uses of particular improved grades of mesoporous silica are disclosed.
Rare earth-based metal-organic framework for moisture removal and control in confined spaces
A method for preparing a metal-organic framework (MOF) comprising contacting one or more of a rare earth metal ion component with one or more of a tetratopic ligand component, sufficient to form a rare earth-based MOF for controlling moisture in an environment. A method of moisture control in an environment comprising adsorbing and/or desorbing water vapor in an environment using a MOF, the MOF including one or more of a rare earth metal ion component and one or more of a tetratopic ligand component. A method of controlling moisture in an environment comprising sensing the relative humidity in the environment comprising a MOF; and adsorbing water vapor on the MOF if the relative humidity is above a first level, sufficient to control moisture in an environment.
POROUS SILICA PARTICLES
The present disclosure provides a porous silica having an average pore diameter of from 20 to 450 , a median (D50) pore diameter of from 20 to 450 , a pore volume of from 0.15 to 1.2 cm.sup.3 g.sup.1, a surface area of from 100 to 600 m.sup.2 g.sup.1, and a span of 0.80 or less. The present disclosure also provides a method of producing the porous silica. The method includes the step of mixing together an aqueous phase comprising nanoparticulate silica and an organic phase to form a water-in-oil dispersion or emulsion. The organic phase includes an organic solvent that is insoluble or partially soluble in water and optionally also includes a non-polar organic compound that is insoluble in water and at least partially soluble in the organic solvent. A gelling agent is present in the aqueous phase such that the nanoparticulate silica gels form the porous silica.
SUPERIOR CARBON ADSORBENTS
The present invention relates to a superior carbon adsorbent with or without a core. In one embodiment the carbon adsorbent of the present invention employs carbon adsorbent powder and an organic binding agent which are combined together with an appropriate solvent in an agglomeration step. In another embodiment the invention contemplates a core-in-shell adsorbent comprising an outer shell composed of a carbon and a non-adsorbing inert inner core. Low temperature processing of these agglomerates substantially preserves the binding agent within the final composition and allows one to prepare adsorbent products of high sphericity. The adsorbents of the invention possess superior characteristics such as higher mass transfer rate and CO.sub.2 working capacity for use in a H.sub.2PSA process.
Method for Treating Exhaust Gases Containing Sulfur Oxides
The invention relates to the technical field of the treatment of exhaust gases containing sulfur oxides, especially exhaust gases from technical combustion plants, the so-called flue gases, or exhaust gases from technical processes, such as steel production (e.g. blast furnace gases, etc.) Especially, the invention relates to a method for the treatment of exhaust gases containing sulfur oxides, in particular from technical combustion plants, such as flue gases, or from technical processes, for the purpose of removing and/or separating off the sulfur oxides or for the purpose of reducing the sulfur oxide content, as well as a system for carrying out the method.

MULTI-FUNCTIONAL COMPOSITION OF MATTER FOR REMOVAL OF MERCURY FROM HIGH TEMPERATURE FLUE GAS STREAMS
A multi-functional composition of matter that is useful for injection into a flue gas stream to rapidly and efficiently remove mercury from the flue gas streams, particularly at above average flue stream temperatures of about 340 F. or higher. The multi-functional composition of matter may include a fixed carbon content of at least about 20 wt. %, a mineral content of from about 20 wt. % to about 50 wt. %, a sum of micropore plus mesopore volume of at least about 0.20 cc/g, a micropore volume to mesopore volume ratio of at least about 0.7, and a tapped density of not greater than about 0.575 g/ml. These compositions may be further characterized by number of particles per gram of the composition of matter such that the composition may have at least about 0.8 billion particles per gram, or even as many as 1.5 billion particles per gram. These physical and chemical properties may enhance (1) the oxidation reaction kinetics for the oxidation of mercury species, (2) frequency of contact events, and (3) capture and sequestration of mercury, to achieve efficient mercury capture by the composition even in high temperature flue gas streams.
