A composite structure, exhaust aftertreatment system, and method of manufacture. The composite structure includes a body that includes an array of intersecting walls that form a plurality of channels extending in an axial direction through the body such that adjacent channels are located on opposite sides of each wall. A composite material of the body includes a first phase of a porous glass or ceramic containing material. The first phase includes an internal interconnected porosity. A second phase of an electrically conductive material is included that is a continuous, three-dimensional, interconnected, electrically conductive phase at least partially filling the internal interconnected porosity of the first phase, which creates an electrical path through at least some of the walls in a lateral direction perpendicular to the axial direction between the opposite sides of the walls.
Exhaust gas purification device
An exhaust gas purification device that allows suppressing an increase in pressure loss is provided. The exhaust gas purification device of the present disclosure includes a honeycomb substrate and an inflow cell side catalyst layer. The substrate includes a porous partition wall which defines inflow cells and outflow cells extending from an inflow side end to an outflow side end. The inflow cell side catalyst layer is disposed on a surface on the inflow cell side in an inflow cell side catalyst region from an inflow side end to a position close to an outflow side end of the partition wall. The permeability of a portion including an outflow side region from the position to the outflow side end of the partition wall is higher than a gas permeability of a portion including the inflow cell side catalyst region of the partition wall and the inflow cell side catalyst layer.
CATALYST, HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE, AND EXHAUST GAS PURIFIER
In an aspect of the present disclosure, a catalyst includes an oxide containing 5 or more types of rare earth elements and 1 or more types of platinum group elements. The catalyst has a configuration entropy of a cation site determined based on (i) the number of types of the rare earth elements and the platinum group element that can be arranged in the cation site in a crystalline structure of the oxide, and (ii) each proportion of the rare earth elements and the platinum group element of more than 1.7R, where R is a gas constant.

A three-way catalyst article, and its use in an exhaust system for compressed natural gas engines, is disclosed. The catalyst article for treating exhaust gas from compressed natural gas (CNG) engine comprising: a substrate comprising an inlet end, an outlet end with an axial length L; a first catalytic region beginning at the outlet end and extending for less than the axial length L, wherein the first catalytic region comprises a first zeolite; and a second catalytic region beginning at the inlet end, wherein the second catalytic region comprises a second platinum group metal (PGM) component, a second oxygen storage capacity (OSC) material, and a second inorganic oxide; wherein the second PGM component is selected from the group consisting of palladium, platinum, rhodium or a combination thereof.

The present invention relates to a particulate filter which comprises a wall-flow filter of length L and two different catalytically active coatings Y and Z, wherein the wall-flow filter comprises channels E and A that extend in parallel between a first and a second end of the wall-flow filter and are separated by porous walls which form the surfaces O.sub.E and O.sub.A, respectively, and wherein the channels E are closed at the second end and the channels A are closed at the first end, and wherein the coatings Y and Z have the same oxygen storage components and the same carrier materials for noble metals. The invention is characterized in that the coating Y is located in the channels E on the surfaces O.sub.E and the coating Z is located in the channels A on the surfaces O.sub.A.

Provided is an exhaust gas purification device that ensures an improved purification performance and a suppressed pressure loss. An exhaust gas purification device of the present disclosure includes a honeycomb substrate and an inflow cell side catalyst layer. disposed on a surface on the inflow cell side in an inflow side region of the partition wall. When a gas permeability coefficient of an inflow side partition wall portion including the inflow side region of the partition wall and the inflow cell side catalyst layer is Ka and a gas permeability coefficient of an outflow side partition wall portion including an outflow side region at least from the predetermined position to an outflow side end of the partition wall is Kb, a ratio Ka/Kb of the gas permeability coefficients is within a range of 0.4 or more and 0.8 or less.
Honeycomb catalytic converter
The present invention relates to a honeycomb catalytic converter, including: a honeycomb structured body in which multiple through-holes are arranged longitudinally in parallel with one another with a partition wall therebetween; and Pd and Rh supported on the partition walls of the honeycomb structured body, wherein the honeycomb structured body is an extrudate containing a ceria-zirconia complex oxide and alumina, a Pd-carrying region where only Pd is supported is formed on the partition walls within a predetermined width from one end of the honeycomb structured body, and a Rh-carrying region where only Rh is supported is formed on the partition walls within a predetermined width from the other end of the honeycomb structured body, and the Pd-carrying region extends to at least 50% of the length of the honeycomb structured body, and the Rh-carrying region extends to at least 20% of the length of the honeycomb structured body.

The presently invention provides an emission control catalyst article comprising a substrate, a bottom washcoat layer comprising a platinum group metal coated on the 60 to 100% length of the substrate, and a top washcoat layer comprising a platinum group metal coated on the 60 to 100% length of the substrate such that the top coat covers at least 60% of the length of the bottom washcoat layer, wherein at least a portion of the top washcoat layer, the bottom washcoat layer or both washcoat layers comprises a platinum group metal deposited within the said washcoat layer(s) with a platinum group metal gradient such that the PGM concentration in a top-most portion of the said washcoat layer is at least two time higher compared to the PGM concentration in a bottom-most portion of the said washcoat layer.
