The utilization of the catalyst in treating a hydrocarbon feedstock containing sulfur compounds (e.g. dibenzothiophene) to produce a desulfurized hydrocarbon stream is also provided.

The mixture of visible light-responsive photocatalytic titanium oxide fine particles is characterized by containing two kinds of titanium dioxide fine particles: first titanium oxide fine particles, in which a tin component and a transition metal component (excluding an iron group element component) that increases visible light response properties form a solid solution, and second titanium oxide fine particles, in which an iron group element component and a chromium group element component form a solid solution.

SELECTIVE CATALYTIC REDUCTION CATALYST COMPOSITION
A SCR catalyst composition comprises a SCR catalyst; and a binder comprising a porous inorganic material, wherein the porous inorganic material comprises a disordered arrangement of delaminated layers, has a disordered porous structure, and has a multimodal pore size distribution comprising at least a first modal maximum having a macroporous or mesoporous pore size and a second modal maximum having a microporous pore size. The SCR catalyst composition can be manufactured using the method comprising the steps of: (i) providing an inorganic material having a layered structure; (ii) contacting the material with a cationic surfactant to form a swollen material; (iii) agitating the swollen material to form an agitated material; and (iv) calcining the agitated material to recover a delaminated inorganic material, wherein an SCR catalyst is mixed with the inorganic material prior to step (iv).

A gas purification device includes: a converter packed with a catalyst for hydrolyzing both carbonyl sulfide and hydrogen cyanide; an upstream heat exchanger for heat exchange between a gas to be introduced into the converter and a cooling fluid for cooling the gas; a reaction-temperature estimation member for estimating a reaction temperature inside the converter; and a flow-rate adjustment member for adjusting a flow rate of the cooling fluid flowing into the upstream heat exchanger based on an estimated value of the reaction-temperature estimation member to control the reaction temperature.

A catalyst for treating an exhaust gas comprising SO.sub.2, NO.sub.x and elemental mercury in the presence of a nitrogenous reductant comprises a composition containing oxides of: (i) Molybdenum (Mo) and optionally Tungsten (W); and (ii) Vanadium (V); and (iii) Titanium (Ti); and (iv) Phosphorus (P), wherein, with respect to the total metal atoms in the composition, the composition comprises: (i) Mo in an amount of less than 2 at. %, and optionally up to 9 at. % W; (ii) from 2.5 to 12 at. % V; (iii) from 85 to 96 at. % Ti, and wherein the composition comprises (iv) P in an atomic ratio to the sum of atoms of Mo, W and V of from 1:2 to 3:2. The values expressed must total 100%.

A catalytic composition is disclosed, which exhibits an X-ray amorphous oxide with a spinel formula, and crystals of ZnO, CuO, and at least one Group VIB metal oxide, and preferably, at least one acidic oxide of B, P, or Si, as well. The composition is useful in oxidative processes for removing sulfur from gaseous hydrocarbons.
