Low cost oxidation catalysts for VOC and halogenated VOC emission control
The current embodiments relate to ruthenium-containing supported catalysts, including processes for their manufacture and use, which destroy, through catalytic oxidation, hazardous compounds contained in chemical industrial emissions and otherwise produced from industrial processes.
Metal-organic frameworks for gas adsorption
Disclosed are metal organic frameworks (MOFs) for adsorbing guest species, methods for the separation of gases using the MOFs, and systems comprising the MOFs. The MOFs comprise a plurality of secondary building units (SBUs), each SBU comprising a repeating unit of one metal cation connected to another metal cation via a first moiety of an organic linker; a layer of connected adjacent SBUs in which a second moiety of the linker in a first SBU is connected to a metal cation of an adjacent SBU, and wherein adjacent layers are connected to each other via linker-to-linker bonding interactions.
Method and Apparatus for Gas Destruction
A method for the destruction of a target gas, the method including: a) compressing at a first pressure a mixture of air and target gas to produce a compressed target gas mixture; b) destroying the target gas by combusting the compressed target gas mixture with diesel fuel in a forced-induction internal combustion engine, at a combustion pressure greater than the first pressure in the turbocharger, to produce an oxidised exhaust gas, the combustion occurring while maintaining a load on the diesel engine with a load bank; and c) processing the oxidised exhaust gas to produce a vent gas for venting to atmosphere where the vent gas includes substantially no target gas.
Cavitand compositions and methods of use thereof
Cavitand compositions that comprise void spaces are disclosed. The void spaces may be empty, which means that voids are free of guest molecules or atoms, or the void spaces may comprise guest molecules or atoms that are normally in their gas phase at standard temperature and pressure. These cavitands may be useful for industrial applications, such as the separation or storage of gasses. Novel cavitand compounds are also disclosed.
Integrated Wet Scrubbing System
The present invention relates to an advanced system for the removal of air pollutants from combustion and non-combustion processes that generate air pollutants that are regulated by environmental agencies. The pollutants include, but are not limited to, particulate matter; acid gases including sulphur dioxide, hydrogen chloride and hydrogen fluoride; metals such as mercury, dioxins, VOCs and reagents such as ammonia. The system collects and processes the polluted gas stream through two forms of wet method scrubbing technology. The gas is first passed through a wet scrubbing reactor capable of complete interaction between the gas and the selected liquid scrubbing reagent at one or more interfaces. The scrubbing medium is selected for its reactivity with the pollutants targeted in the process, its cost and impact on the environment. From the exit of the scrubbing reactor the gas is directed through a wet electrostatic precipitator to remove the remaining targeted pollutants to very high removal efficiency.
EXTRACTION OF PHYTOSTEROLS FROM TALL OIL SOAP USING A SOLVENT SELECTED FROM DIBROMOMETHANE, BROMOFORM, TETRABROMOMETHANE OR A COMBINATION THEREOF
The present invention relates to extraction of phytosterols from alkaline tall oil soap which is obtained from the Kraft process black liquor by skimming. In the method according to the present invention, phytosterols are extracted using dibromomethane, bromoform, tetrabromomethane or a combination thereof.
Bromate suppression
A apparatus and method for killing microorganisms in a body of water that has been treated with ozone in the presence of bromide ions with the method comprising the steps of carrying out the ozonization of a body of water in the presence of bromide ions, adding a metal ion donor to the body of water, and adding a hypobromite ion scavenger to the body of water to interact with the metal ion donor to enhance a metal ion concentration in the body of water while suppressing the oxidization of the bromide by the Ozone to produce bromate.
Selective adsorption of halocarbon impurities containing cl, br and i in fluorocarbons or hydrofluorocarbons using adsorbent supported metal oxide
Methods for purification of a fluorocarbon or hydrofluorocarbon containing at least one undesired halocarbon impurities comprise flowing the fluorocarbon or hydrofluorocarbon through at least one adsorbent beds to selectively adsorb the at least one undesired halocarbon impurities through physical adsorption and/or chemical adsorption, wherein the at least one adsorbent beds contain a metal oxide supported on an adsorbent in an inert atmosphere.
Gas treatment method and gas treatment device
Provided are a gas treatment method and a gas treatment device capable of efficiently removing a bromofluoroethylene. A gas containing a bromofluoroethylene is brought into contact with an adsorbent (7) having pores with an average pore diameter of 0.4 nm or more and 4 nm or less in a temperature environment of not less than 0 C. and less than 120 C. to allow the adsorbent (7) to adsorb the bromofluoroethylene, and thus the bromofluoroethylene is separated from the gas.
