SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GENERATION OF EMULSIONS WITH SUITABLE CLARITY WITH APPLICATIONS OF USE
The inventions cover systems and methods for generation of emulsions having suitable clarity without requiring refractive index matching between emulsion components. Systems can include: a substrate including a set of openings; a reservoir facing the substrate at a first side and containing a sample fluid configured for droplet formation upon interacting with the set of openings of the substrate; and a collecting container facing the substrate at a second side and containing a set of fluid layers configured with a density gradient and suitable immiscibility characteristics. One or more components of the system(s) can support methods for emulsion generation, in relation to enabling interactions between multiple continuous phases and a dispersed droplet phase to generate clear emulsions. Applications of the inventions(s) can include performance of droplet-based digital PCR in an improved manner (e.g., without requiring implementation of correction factors based upon Poisson statistics)

System apparatus and method suitable for capturing water energy
An apparatus, system and method to capture water power from head or pressure is provided utilizing pipes, inlets, and outlets. The apparatus comprises a central bore having an internal diameter suitable for a fluid flow, the fluid flow moves inside the central bore through the apparatus, and at least one outlet, the fluid flow exits the apparatus through the at least one outlet, optionally, a plurality of inlets for flowing additional fluid to the central bore mix the fluid flow with the additional fluid from the plurality of inlets. The apparatus can further mix the fluid through additional mixing devices and additional devices can be used to recapture energy such as hydroelectric power from the fluid flow. The system and method can capture water energy from the fluid flow.
Ultra high ratio liquid delivery system
A liquid dispensing system comprises a container enclosing a chamber. A flexible bag in the chamber contains a first liquid. First and second conduits are contained in the chamber. The first conduit connects the chamber to an outlet port in the container where the second conduit connects the bag to the first conduit. A supply source introduces a pressurized second liquid into the chamber. The first conduit serves to direct an existing flow of the second liquid from the chamber to the outlet port, with the pressurized second liquid serving to collapse the bag and expel the first liquid contained therein via the second conduit to the first conduit for mixture with the exiting flow of the second liquid. The second conduit lacks flow restrictions, such as metering orifices or the like.
Fine particle manufacturing device
Apparatus for producing fine particles having a particle formation mechanism and a particle-outlet micro-channel may include a unit-structure including first and second portions adjacent to each other; and a first inlet defined in the first portion at a first height. A continuous phase solution is injected into the first inlet; and a second inlet is defined in the first portion at a second height different from the second height. A dispersed phase solution is injected into the second inlet. A merging volume is defined in the second portion and is defined at third height equal to either the first height and the second height, or has a value therebetween. The continuous phase solution and the dispersed phase solution are merged in the merging volume, wherein fine particles are formed. A first micro-channel and a second micro-channel branching from the merging volume communicates with the first inlet and the second inlet, respectively.
Method for in situ mixing of liquid compositions with dynamic filling profiles
Methods for in situ mixing of two or more different liquid compositions by employing a dynamic flow profile characterized by a ramping-up section and/or a ramping-down section.
Shelf Stable, Concentrated, Liquid Flavorings And Methods of Preparing Beverages With The Concentrated Liquid Flavorings
Concentrated liquid flavorings and methods of preparing flavored beverages using the concentrated liquid flavorings are described herein. The concentrated liquid flavorings are shelf stable for prolonged storage times at ambient temperatures. Shelf stability is provided, at least in part, by acidic pH and/or reduced water activity. By one approach, the concentrated liquid flavorings are intended to provide flavor to a beverage, such as coffee, tea, milk, or other savory beverage. The concentrated liquid flavorings may be provided in a convenient portable and dosable format that can be easily used by a consumer to provide the desired flavor and amount of flavor to a beverage.
Methods for forming mixed droplets
The invention generally relates to methods for forming mixed droplets. In certain embodiments, methods of the invention involve forming a droplet, and contacting the droplet with a fluid stream, wherein a portion of the fluid stream integrates with the droplet to form a mixed droplet.
ADJUSTABLE ADDITIVE CARTRIDGE SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An additive delivery system may incorporate a cartridge system, including a container cap and a reservoir assembly that provides for storage of an additive. The container cap includes a mixing nozzle for mixing of the additive with a base fluid as the base fluid flows from the base fluid container through the cartridge. A one-way valve prevents backflow of base fluid and/or mixed base fluid/additive from an area downstream of the mixing nozzle such that the base fluid supply remains in a pure state.
Apparatus and methods for multi-step channel emulsification
Methods and devices for forming droplets are provided. In certain embodiments, the methods and devices form droplets having different diameters. In particular embodiments, the device includes a fluid supply channel, a collection chamber, and one or more nozzles disposed between the fluid supply channel and the collection chamber. Each nozzle may include an inlet portion with a channel height, a first step with a first step height and a first tread length, and a second step with a second step height and a second tread length. In certain embodiments, the first step height is greater than the channel height, and the second step height is greater than the first step height.
