Apparatus for mixing of fluids flowing through a conduit

An apparatus for mixing fluids within a pipe is provided. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a fluid mixing device with a pipe having a pipe wall and an axial bore for conveying fluids through the pipe. The fluid mixing device also includes a sleeve disposed about the pipe and a cavity provided between an exterior surface of the pipe and an interior surface of the sleeve. The cavity and the axial bore of the pipe are in fluid communication with one another via an opening through the pipe wall. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

A metering and mixing device contains a multichamber cartridge and a cartridge holder having a reception container for the multichamber cartridge and a compressed air connection and a connection for an application device. The multichamber cartridge contains an upper portion having a directional valve, a middle portion configured as a tubular empty space surrounded by at least two chambers arranged tubularly in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the cartridge, and a lower portion having a piston for each chamber. The multichamber cartridge is arranged in the cartridge holder such that the inner wall of the inner tube of the multichamber cartridge bears, leak-tight, against the outer wall of the tube of the cartridge holder.

The second member includes a mixing device that is movably disposed within the first chamber, and the second member defines a second chamber containing a second ingredient. The container additional includes an opening device that selectively opens the second chamber and allows the second ingredient to enter from the second chamber into the first chamber. The mixing device is movable within the first chamber to promote mixing of the first ingredient and the second ingredient to prepare the bone cement. A corresponding method of preparing bone cement also disclosed.
