System, method and handheld controller for multi-player gaming
Embodiments of the invention relate to systems and methods for multi-player gaming. Some embodiments relate to systems having an improved communications infrastructure and improved handheld game controllers, while other embodiments relate to improvements in handling large numbers of players in the multi-player game when played in a game arena with a single large display screen showing the multi-player game images. In one particular embodiment, a system is provided that has a game server controlling a display system to display the multi-player game on the large screen and a plurality of game controllers. Each game controller has a secondary display means for providing a secondary game display and input means for receiving player input. The system further comprises communication means for enabling communication between the game server and each of the plurality of game controllers. The plurality of game controllers are located in proximity to the large display screen such that it is visible to game players manipulating the game controllers while playing the multi-player game.
Collaborative online gaming system and method
A system, method, and computer program product for collaborative online gaming, including at least one of providing a central repository master browser system; providing an experience calibrated match-making service; providing a dynamic multiplayer server component auto deployment and aggregation system; providing a lobby centric simultaneous and collaborative client game play launching feature; and providing a video game screen over-layer technology giving users access to a control interface while inside a video game being played.
LOCATION-BASED GAMES AND AUGMENTED REALITY SYSTEMS
Handheld location based games are provided in which a user's physical location correlates to the virtual location of a virtual character on a virtual playfield.
Augmented Reality (AR) systems are provided in which video game indicia are overlaid onto a user's physical environment. A landscape detector is provided that may obtain information about the user's landscape, in addition to the user's location, in order to provide overlaying information to an AR head-mounted display and control information to non-user controlled video game characters.
Networked game system
A network game system of high interest in which a contingency and/or unpredictability intervenes in a data exchange between players in a network game is provided. When a map item and a character are selected, a game apparatus transmits a data exchange request and character information to a server apparatus. The received character information is stored in a character management table of the server apparatus. When a predetermined time elapses after the data exchange request, other-character information is specified, and the character management table is updated. The other-character information is transmitted to the game apparatus, and the game apparatus updates each table based on the received information.
Object display system, user communication device, and object display method and program
A beacon device is a mobile object having an AR marker provided on its surface which indicates an existing position of the beacon device in actual space and transmits a beacon signal including a beacon ID. A user communication device, which is a mobile object equipped with an imaging function, identifies the position of the beacon device by recognizing the AR marker in a live view image, receives the beacon signal transmitted from the beacon device, transmits the beacon ID to a server device and controls to display an object corresponding to the beacon ID transmitted from the server device at the identified position of the beacon device in the live view image. The server device reads out the object corresponding to the beacon ID transmitted from the user communication device from a character data file group and transmits that data to the user communication device.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR UPDATING IN-GAME CONTENT
Systems and methods for updating content of a mobile video game allow for mobile communication devices to receive updated content for video games that operate on the devices. The updates may be promotional in nature, and may be pre-selected based on the device type, service, or service provider. The game may contain instructions that cause the mobile communication device to contact an interface and/or server to receive updated content. After the updated content is received by the mobile communication device, the content may be displayed in-game. The user of the mobile communication device may be provided with one or more options that affect the frequency or ability to receive or display updated content. In addition, the server may track what content has already been received by the mobile communication device.
Mobile phone game interface
Systems, apparatus and methods for enabling a mobile station to control a virtual world being executed on a console system are described. The method can include establishing a communication link between the mobile station and a console system, identifying user interface characteristics of the mobile station, and providing a controller application to the mobile station, the controller application being based on the identified user interface characteristics and configured to transform user interface inputs into controller commands. The method can further include receiving signals containing data representing the controller commands from the mobile station over the communication link and determining a sequence of events of the virtual world based on the received controller commands. In one aspect, the controller application can execute in the context of an application on the mobile station.
Game scrapbook system, game scrapbook method, and computer readable recording medium recording program for implementing the method
A game scrapbook system associated with a game progress includes: a data table setting setup information by recording at least one game environment associated with a generation of a predetermined event signal; an event signal generation unit generating the event signal when a game environment according to a game progress corresponds to at least a portion of the setup information; an image capturing unit, in response to the event signal, capturing a game image to generate game image information; and an image transmission unit transmitting the generated game image information to a remote location in a network using a network address.
Game system, game control device, and information storage medium
Provided is a game system including at least one processor configured to: select at least one game object from a plurality of selection candidate game objects, as a game object to be associated with first user identification information, based on predetermined lottery processing; associate the selected game object with the first user identification information; and set, as one of the plurality of selection candidate game objects, a game object which is associated with second user identification information and generated based on a game play by a second user who is identified by the second user identification information.
