A wine decanter includes a reservoir that holds wine and a neck with an opening to allow wine to enter and exit the reservoir. The reservoir is generally rectangular with opposing front and rear sides and opposing left and right sides, and a substantially flat bottom. Protrusions are located on the reservoir inner surface at one of the front and rear sides or left and right sides. Each protrusion spans an entire length of one of the sides and protrudes into the reservoir thereby aerating the wine as it passes by the protrusions. All protrusions are located above the flat bottom of the reservoir such that none of the protrusions are located on the flat bottom of the reservoir, thereby allowing the wine to pool on the flat bottom of the reservoir. A base is provided that moves the decanter in a controlled back-and-forth motion to aerate the wine.

The heat transfer element carried by the body, such that the heat transfer element is arranged to change a temperature of the beverage in the body using the control temperature. When the diverter is in a first position, the flow features are accessible and the beverage flows through the body portion, along the plurality of flow features, and through the outlet. When the diverter member is in a second position, the flow features are not accessible and the beverage flows through the body portion and through the outlet while bypassing the flow features.

When the diverter is in the second position, the diverter is positioned such that the beverage flows through the aeration outlets while bypassing the central outlet. When the diverter is in the third position, the diverter is positioned such that the beverage flows through the body, a first portion of the beverage flows through the central outlet while bypassing the aeration outlets, and a second portion of the beverage flows through the aeration outlets while bypassing the central outlet.

Carbonation is the process of dissolving carbon dioxide into beverages like beer, sparkling wine, and seltzer water. To speed up the carbonation process, a still liquid is atomized into droplets as it is added to a container pressurized with carbon dioxide. The gas in the container will adsorb into the droplets more quickly than for traditional carbonation methods because of the large surface area-to-volume ratio of the droplets. The carbonated droplets will collect as pooled liquid in the bottom of the container from which it is sent to a storage vessel carbonated to the desired level. The system and process allows for carbonation of liquid at a rate of several gallons per minute, which is a significant increase over current processes.
