REACTOR JACKET DESIGN
Reactor systems, reactor coolant systems, and associated processes for polymerizing polyolefins are described. The reactor systems generally include a reactor pipe and a coolant system, in which the coolant system includes a jacket pipe surrounding at least a portion of the reactor pipe to form an annulus therebetween, at least one spacer coupling the jacket to the reactor pipe, and a coolant which flows through the annulus to remove heat from the reactor pipe. At least one of the external surface of the reactor pipe, the internal surface of the jacket, and at least one spacer, are independently modified, for example by polishing, coating, or reshaping, to reduce the fluid resistance of the coolant flow through the annulus.

The invention relates to a process, unit and reaction system of low-carbon alkane dehydrogenation, which comprises the following steps: C3-C5 low-carbon alkane feed gas, together with CO and/or CO.sub.2 process gas, get into reactor after being preheated to 200-500° C., contact with a Cr—Ce—Cl/Al.sub.2O.sub.3 dehydrogenation catalyst, a Cu—Ce—Ca—Cl/Al.sub.2O.sub.3 thermal generating agent and thermal storage/support inert alumina balls, and convert to dehydrogenation products for 5-30 minutes under the conditions: temperature, 500-700° C., pressure, 10-100 kPa and weight hourly space velocity (WHSV), 0.1-5 hours.sup.−1. The products formed enter the downstream separation unit for separating out the low-carbon alkenes. The periodic regeneration process of the catalyst bed includes steam purging, hot air regenerating, bed heating, evacuating and reducing at 560 to 730° C. and 0.01 to 1 MPa. Each cycle needs about 10-70 minutes. With such dehydrogenation process, the reaction heat balance is moderated, and temperature gradient and reaction severity in the catalyst bed are reduced. As a consequence, the catalytic conversion, product selectivity, operation cycle and service life are improved. The system energy consumption is reduced.

PROCESS AND REACTOR FOR CATALYTIC OXIDATION OF AMMONIA
A process for the catalytic oxidation of ammonia, comprising: passing an ammonia-containing gas, in the presence of oxygen, over a catalyst contained in a reactor, obtaining a process gas containing nitrogen oxides, and cooling said process gas with a heat exchanger accommodated in the reactor, wherein a portion of said process gas, located in the shell side, bypasses the heat exchanger and forms a hot current which mixes with cooled gas downstream the heat exchanger, and the bypass is regulated on the basis of a target outlet temperature of the mixed process gas.
Bi-modal radial flow reactor
A bi-modal radial flow reactor comprising a cylindrical outer housing surrounding at least five cylindrical, concentric zones, including at least three annulus vapor zones and at least two catalyst zones. The at least two catalyst zones comprise an outer catalyst zone and an inner catalyst zone. The at least three annulus vapor zones comprise an outer annulus vapor zone, a middle annulus vapor zone, and a central annulus vapor zone, wherein the central annulus vapor zone extends along a centerline of the bi-modal radial flow reactor. The outer catalyst zone is intercalated with the outer annulus vapor zone and the middle annulus vapor zone, and the inner catalyst zone is intercalated with the middle annulus vapor zone and the central annulus vapor zone. A removable head cover can be fixably coupled to a top of the cylindrical outer housing to seal a top of the bi-modal radial flow reactor.
Computerized systems and methods for temperature profile control in a reactor with a series of fixed beds
Disclosed are systems, servers and methods for improving temperature profile control in a reactor with at least three fixed beds, exothermic reactions and interstage cooling. A model of the temperature differential across the first bed is developed and its error is used to infer unmeasured feed composition disturbances, which are used in the control of the downstream fixed beds for faster response to unmeasured feed composition changes and improved control of the temperature profile throughout the reactor. The first bed model error is then used as an input into an overall model that predicts reactor temperature profiles, which provides advanced notice of reactions in downstream beds, and enables efficient adjustment and compensation to a feed composition change. A Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm is applied to adjust the bed intercooling and first bed feed temperature so that the reactor temperature profile can be more precisely controlled.

The SMR system includes a catalytic foam disposed in the annular space between the outer tube and the inner tube, the catalytic foam comprising a catalyst.

The hydrogen generated by the one or more reactor modules may be used to provide additional heating of the reactor modules (e.g., via combustion of the hydrogen), or may be provided to one or more fuel cells for the generation of electrical energy.
Process and plant for producing methanol from substoichiometric synthesis gas
Proposed is a process for producing methanol from synthesis gas by means of multi-stage, for example two-stage, heterogeneously catalyzed methanol synthesis, wherein the methanol product formed in every synthesis stage is separated by condensation and the remaining residual gas is supplied to the downstream synthesis stage or after separation of a purge stream recycled to the first synthesis stage as a recycle stream. According to the invention after each synthesis stage the residual gas streams have separated from them a respective purge stream, from which, using one or more hydrogen recovery apparatuses, hydrogen is separated and recycled to the first synthesis stage. The ratio of the individual purge streams and their total molar flow may optionally be varied to allow better control of the reaction in the individual synthesis stages and to allow reaction to the advancing deactivation of the catalysts present therein.
