Reducing Firing and CO2 Emissions in Primary Reformers and Direct Fired Furnaces
This disclosure relates installed or new synthesis gas (Syngas) production units and potential modifications to those units to reduce the firing requirements and significant emissions of CO.sub.2 from those units with affordable capital expenditures.
Steam reformers, modules, and methods of use
The present disclosure is directed to steam reformers for the production of a hydrogen rich reformate, comprising a shell having a first end, a second end, and a passage extending generally between the first end and the second end of the shell, and at least one heat source disposed about the second end of the shell. The shell comprises at least one conduit member comprising at least one thermally emissive and high radiant emissivity material, at least partially disposed within the shell cavity. The shell further comprises at least one reactor module at least a portion of which is disposed within the shell cavity and about the at least one conduit member and comprises at least one reforming catalyst. The disclosure is also directed to methods of producing a hydrogen reformate utilizing the steam reformers, comprising the steps of combusting a combustible mixture in a burner to produce a combustion exhaust that interacts with the steam reactor module(s) through surface to surface radiation and convection heat transfer, and reforming a hydrocarbon fuel mixed with steam in the steam reformers to produce a hydrogen-containing reformate. The present disclosure is further directed to reactor modules for use with the above steam reformers and methods of producing a hydrogen reformate.
Method and Apparatus for Producing a Hydrogen-Containing Product
Process and apparatus for producing a hydrogen-containing product by steam-hydrocarbon reforming of multiple hydrocarbon feedstocks in a production facility utilizing a prereformer in addition to the primary reformer. The temperature of the reactant mixture introduced into the prereformer is controlled depending on the composition of the reactant mixture fed to the prereformer.
Bayonet catalytic reactor
A bayonet reactor including a catalytic reactor in the form of an annular structured packing is provided with increased surface area for the transfer of heat between annulus gas and return gas, an increased coefficient of heat transfer between the annulus and return gases, and a reduced overall pressure drop relative to conventional reactors. The reactors of the present technology can enable intensified catalytic processing.
REFORMER DOUBLE BOTTOM
A reformer for production of synthesis gas may include a reformer firing space having a reformer base, reformer walls, and a reformer roof. The reformer may include a first reformer tube and a second reformer tube, with at least sections of the first reformer tube and the second reformer tube being arranged within the reformer firing space. At least one reformer burner is disposed outside the reformer firing space. A cooling duct on or beneath the reformer base is disposed between the first reformer tube and the second reformer tube. The first reformer tube and the second reformer tube can be connected to a collecting system outside the reformer firing space, with the collecting system being disposed beneath the reformer base.
Reformer tube having a structured catalyst and improved heat balance
A reformer tube for producing synthesis gas by steam reforming of hydrocarbon-containing feed gases, in which a structured stream reforming catalyst is used, is proposed. According to the invention, a heat exchanger tube is arranged in the interior of the structured catalyst, with the feed gas stream flowing firstly through the structured catalyst and subsequently in countercurrent through the heat exchanger tube. This improves the heat exchange between the synthesis gas product stream and the structured catalyst and the feed gas stream flowing through it, especially in the radial direction.
REACTOR FOR SYNTHESIS OF METHANOL OR OTHER PRODUCTS
An improved reactor comprising a shell and at least one reactor internal component. The reactor internal component includes a tube bundle comprising a plurality of tubes attached by at least one tube support plate comprising at least one radial strut and at least one bracket configured to secure to at least one tube of the tube bundle. The tubes are arranged in concentric bands about a longitudinal axis of the reactor. The reactor can also include a gas inlet plate, a catalyst support plate, and a top plate. The reactor shell can include a domed head portion with a startup nozzle connected to a reducing flange, providing a manhole access opening into the shell. Sliding strips that slide relative to the tube support plates can facilitate easier assembly, and support rings for the tubes adjacent the plates can accommodate variable thermal expansion of the tubes received in the plates.
Reforming Furnace
At a center portion of a ceiling wall of a furnace body having a lateral wall between the ceiling wall and a bottom wall, there is a burner that combusts downwards. A reforming reaction tube is provided in a circumference of the burner to carry out a steam reforming treatment on a source gas. A discharging portion is an opening at an upper side portion of the lateral wall for discharging combustion gas of the burner. A cylindrical outer wall is disposed at an outer side portion of the lateral wall. In an outside space formed between the lateral wall and the outer wall, there is a steam generating heat exchanger generating steam or a mixture gas of a source gas and steam. At a lower side portion of the outer wall, there is outside discharging opening discharging the combustion gas which flows through the outside space.
Catalyst particle shape
A catalytic system is provided which comprises a tubular reactor and at least one catalyst particle located within the tubular reactor. The catalyst particles have a particular geometric form which promotes heat transfer with the tubular reactor. Certain specific catalyst particles are also provided.
