Process for producing BTX from a C5—C12 hydrocarbon mixture
The invention relates to a process for producing benzene comprising the steps of: (a) providing a hydrocracking feed stream comprising C.sub.5-C.sub.12 hydrocarbons, (b) contacting the hydrocracking feed stream in the presence of hydrogen with a hydrocracking catalyst under process conditions including a temperature of 425-580 C., a pressure of 300-5000 kPa gauge and a Weight Hourly Space Velocity of 3-30 h.sup.1 to produce a hydrocracking product stream comprising BTX and (c) separating the BTX from the hydrocracking product stream, wherein the hydrocracking catalyst comprises a shaped body comprising a zeolite and a binder and a hydrogenation metal deposited on the shaped body, wherein the amount of the hydrogenation metal is 0.010-0.30 wt-% with respect to the total catalyst and wherein the zeolite is ZSM-5 having a silica (SiO.sub.2) to alumina (Al.sub.2O.sub.3) molar ratio of 25-75.
Synthesis gas manufacturing method and synthesis gas manufacturing apparatus
A method of manufacturing synthesis gas by catalytic partial oxidation can prevent formation of hot spots from taking place when driving mixture gas to pass through a catalyst-filled layer at high velocity. The method comprises converting mixture gas of source gas containing lower hydrocarbons and oxidative gas containing oxygen into synthesis gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide as main components thereof by causing mixture gas to flow through a fixed bed catalyst layer arranged in a reactor. The method of manufacturing synthesis gas by catalytic partial oxidation is conducted such that the mixture gas is made to flow to the catalyst layer under the condition that the Reynolds number does not exceed 20 at the inlet of the catalyst layer.

Process for making ammonia
A process for production of ammonia includes: providing a reaction stream including carbon monoxide and hydrogen; passing the reaction stream and steam over a water gas shift catalyst in a catalytic shift reactor, forming a shifted gas mixture depleted in carbon monoxide and enriched in hydrogen; passing the shifted gas mixture with an oxygen-containing gas over a selective oxidation catalyst at 175 C., forming a selectively oxidized gas stream with a portion of the carbon monoxide converted to carbon dioxide; removing some of the carbon dioxide from the selectively oxidized gas stream in a carbon dioxide removal unit; passing the carbon dioxide depleted stream over a methanation catalyst in a methanator to form a methanated gas stream, optionally adjusting its hydrogen:nitrogen molar ratio to form an ammonia synthesis gas; and passing the ammonia synthesis gas over an ammonia synthesis catalyst in an ammonia converter to form ammonia.
