SULFUR DIOXIDE REMOVAL FROM WASTE GAS
A process where a gas, containing SO.sub.2 and O.sub.2 is brought in contact with a mixture of from 95% vol. to 50% vol. of activated carbon catalyst and from 5% vol. to 50% vol. of an inert filler material, where the SO.sub.2 is converted to H.sub.2SO.sub.4 on the activated carbon catalyst and is then washed from the activated carbon catalyst to obtain a H.sub.2SO.sub.4 solution.
Metal organic frameworks for the catalytic detoxification of chemical warfare nerve agents
A method of using a metal organic framework (MOF) comprising a metal ion and an at least bidendate organic ligand to catalytically detoxify chemical warfare nerve agents including exposing the metal-organic-framework (MOF) to the chemical warfare nerve agent and catalytically decomposing the nerve agent with the MOF.
Catalyst Carrier
A catalyst carrier may have a cross-sectional shape that may include a plurality of surface channels having a first channel width and a second channel width, where the first channel width may be closer to a periphery of the cross-sectional shape than the second channel width and the first channel width may be less than the second channel width. The cross-sectional shape may further include a plurality of surface features where at least one surface feature is located between at least one pair of surface channels. The cross-sectional shape may further include a ratio L.sub.OC/L.sub.SCP of at least about 1.7, where L.sub.OC is a length of a total contour of the cross-sectional shape and L.sub.SCP is a length of an outer simple convex perimeter of the cross-sectional shape.
Olefin polymerization catalyst system comprising mesoporous organosilica support
A catalyst system comprising a combination of: 1) one or more catalyst compounds having at least one nitrogen linkage and at least one oxygen linkage to a transition metal; 2) a support comprising an organosilica material, which is a mesoporous organosilica material; and 3) an optional activator. Useful catalysts include ONNO-type transition metal catalysts, ONYO-Type transition metal catalysts, and/or oxadiazole transition metal catalysts. The organosilica material is a polymer of at least one monomer of Formula [zOZ2 SiCH2]3(l), where Z.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a C.sub.1-C.sub.4alkyl group, or a bond to a silicon atom of another monomer and Z.sup.2 represents a hydroxyl group, a C.sub.1-C.sub.4alkoxy group, a C.sub.1-C.sub.6alkyl group, or an oxygen atom bonded to a silicon atom of another monomer. This invention further relates to processes to polymerize olefins comprising contacting one or more olefins with the above catalyst system.
ADSORPTION MATERIAL
An adsorption material which includes a carbon nanohorn aggregate in which a plurality of single-walled carbon nanohorns aggregate in a fibrous state, particularly coexisting a globular carbon nanohorn aggregate and some of the single-walled carbon nanohorns included in the carbon nanohorn aggregate have an opening portion, is used. The adsorption material including such a fibrous carbon nanohorn aggregate is produced by a method including: preparing an inert gas atmosphere, a nitrogen gas atmosphere or a mixed atmosphere in a vessel in which a catalyst-containing carbon target is placed; and evaporating the target to obtain a carbon nanohorn aggregate including a fibrous carbon nanohorn aggregate in which a plurality of single-walled carbon nanohorns aggregate in a fibrous state.
Catalyst and process for the production of diesel fuel from natural gas, natural gas liquids, or other gaseous feedstocks
A unique process and catalyst is described that operates efficiently for the direct production of a high cetane diesel type fuel or diesel type blending stock from stochiometric mixtures of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. This invention allows for, but is not limited to, the economical and efficient production high quality diesel type fuels from small or distributed fuel production plants that have an annual production capacity of less than 10,000 barrels of product per day, by eliminating traditional wax upgrading processes. This catalytic process is ideal for distributed diesel fuel production plants such as gas to liquids production and other applications that require optimized economics based on supporting distributed feedstock resources.
PT and/or PD egg-shell catalyst and use thereof
The present invention is in the field of catalysis. More particularly, the present invention is directed to supported precious metal catalysts, preferably palladium and/or platinum metal catalysts, having a high metal loading, a high degree of dispersion and a high degree of edge-coating. The present invention is further directed to a process for producing these catalysts, as well as to the use of these catalysts in chemical reactions.
Catalyst to attain low sulfur gasoline
This invention relates to a hydrodesulfurization catalyst, a method for preparing the catalyst, and a method for the preparation of low sulfur gasoline fuel with minimal loss of RON. The catalyst particles include a group VIB metal and a support material having relatively high surface area, and optionally includes one or more group VIIIB metal. The method for preparing the catalyst allows for greater loading of the active metal species on the surface of the support material under aqueous reaction conditions.
NICKEL CATALYST FOR DRY AND LOW TEMPERATURE STEAM REFORMING OF METHANE
This invention relates to a novel nickel catalyst and a novel one-pot solution combustion synthesis of that catalyst for the CO.sub.2 reforming and low temperature steam reformation of methane. The novel nickel catalyst has exceptional activity for dry reforming and steam reforming of methane, and exhibits excellent resilience to deactivation due to carbon formation.
