Calcination of microporous molecular sieve catalysts

A catalyst comprising a microporous crystalline metallosilicate having a Constraint Index of 12, or 10, or 8, or 6 or less, a binder, a Group 1 alkali metal or a compound thereof and/or a Group 2 alkaline earth metal or a compound thereof, a Group 10 metal or a compound thereof, and, optionally, a Group 11 metal or a compound thereof; wherein the catalyst is calcined in a first calcining step before the addition of the Group 10 metal or compound thereof and optionally the Group 11 metal or compound thereof; and wherein the first calcining step includes heating the catalyst to first temperatures of greater than 500° C.; and wherein the catalyst is calcined in a second calcining step after the addition of the Group 10 metal or compound thereof and optionally the Group 11 metal or compound thereof wherein the second calcining step includes heating the catalyst to temperatures of greater than 400° C.

Catalyst particles comprising one or more active metal components and methods for manufacturing such catalyst particles are provided. The particles are a composite of a granulating agent or binder material such as an inorganic oxide, and an ultra-stable Y (hereafter “USY”) zeolite in which some of the aluminum atoms in the framework are substituted with zirconium atoms and/or titanium atoms and/or hafnium atoms. The one or more active phase components are incorporated in a composite mixture of the inorganic oxide binder and the post-framework modified USY zeolite prior to forming the catalyst particles.

A catalyst structure for synthesis gas production of a synthesis gas that contains carbon monoxide and hydrogen, the catalyst structure being provided with a carrier that has a porous structure, while being configured from a zeolite type compound; first catalyst particles that contain one or more iron group elements which are selected from the group consisting of nickel (Ni), iron (Fe) and cobalt (Co); and second catalyst particles that contain one or more platinum group elements which are selected from the group consisting of platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), rhodium (Rh) and ruthenium (Ru). The catalyst structure for synthesis gas production has passages in communication with each other within the carrier. The first catalyst particles are present at least in the passages of the carrier; and the second catalyst particles are present at least either inside the carrier or on the outer surface of the carrier.

Catalyst for ethane ODH

A catalyst for oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of ethane with an empirical formula Mo—V—Te—Nb—Pd—O produced using a process comprising impregnation of the Pd component on the surface of the catalyst following a calcination step using a Pd compound free of halogens. The resulting catalyst can be used in both diluted and undiluted ODH processes and shows higher than expected activity without any loss of selectivity.

A modified Y-type molecular sieve has a rare earth content of about 4-11% by weight on the basis of rare earth oxide, a sodium content of no more than about 0.5 wt % by weight on the basis of sodium oxide, a zinc content of about 0.5-5% by weight on the basis of zinc oxide, a phosphorus content of about 0.05-10% by weight on the basis of phosphorus pentoxide, a framework silica-alumina ratio of about 7-14 calculated on the basis of SiO.sub.2/Al.sub.2O.sub.3 molar ratio, a percentage of non-framework aluminum content to the total aluminum content of no more than about 10%, and a percentage of the pore volume of secondary pores having a pore size of 2-100 nm to the total pore volume of about 20-40%. The modified Y-type molecular sieve has a high crystallinity and a high thermal and hydrothermal stability, and is rich in secondary pores.

Lignite char supported nano-cobalt composite catalyst and preparation method thereof

The present disclosure provides a lignite char supported nano-cobalt composite catalyst and a preparation method thereof. In the method, lignite is used as a raw material, and a lignite char supported high dispersion nano-cobalt composite catalyst is obtained by a modified impregnation method followed by a high temperature pyrolysis process. The composite catalyst prepared by the present disclosure has a hierarchical pore structure, a high specific surface area, and uniformly dispersing nano-sized cobalts on the lignite char with controllable particle size, so that the obtained catalyst has an excellent catalytic activity for low-temperature CO.sub.2 methanation; moreover, the preparation process is simple and feasible, the raw materials used are cheap and easily available. Therefore, the composite catalyst is very suitable for industrial production and application.

Finally, the invention relates to the use of the supported tantalum catalyst for the production of 1,3-butadiene from a feed comprising ethanol and acetaldehyde to increase one or both of selectivity and yield of the reaction.
