A catalyst bed contains one or more segments of monolithic catalyst, wherein the monolithic catalyst includes a mono-lithic honeycomb structure and a layer of catalyst coating the honeycomb structure; the honeycomb structure contains a plurality of channels aligned side by side; and each channel includes an inlet positioned at a first terminus of the channel, an outlet positioned at a second terminus of the channel, and openings positioned along the channel in the direction of fluid flow through the channel for transverse fluid flow in and/or out of the channel.
ACID-RESISTANT CATALYST SUPPORTS AND CATALYSTS
A process for preparing a catalyst comprises coating substantial internal surfaces of porous inorganic powders with titanium oxide to form titanium oxide-coated inorganic powders. After the coating, an extrudate comprising the titanium oxide-coated inorganic powders is formed and calcined to form a catalyst support. Then, the catalyst support is impregnated with a solution containing one or more salts of metal selected from the group consisting of molybdenum, cobalt, and nickel.
Sulfur-tolerant catalytic system

A catalyst for producing light aromatics with heavy aromatics, a method for preparing the catalyst, and a use thereof are disclosed. The catalyst comprises a carrier, component (1), and component (2), wherein component (1) comprises one metal element or more metal elements selected from a group consisting of Pt, Pd, Ir, and Rh, and component (2) comprises one metal element or more metal elements selected from a group consisting of IA group, IIA group, IIIA group, IVA group, IB group, IIB group, IIIB group, IVB group, VB group, VIB group, VIIB group, La group, and VIII group other than Pt, Pd, Ir, and Rh. The catalyst can be used for producing light aromatics with heavy aromatics, whereby heavy aromatics hydrogenation selectivity and light aromatics yield can be improved.
DEFECT ENGINEERING AND MODIFICATION OF SUBSTRATES FOR SUPPORTED METAL/METAL OXIDE CATALYSTS
Methods for fabricating thermally stable reducible metal oxide catalyst support structures on a base material using a multi-step incipient wetness impregnation (IWI) process are disclosed. For example, reducible metal oxide catalyst support structures having high surface area and high thermal stability may be formed using a multi-step IWI process, where the support structure is generated through high-temperature calcination between IWI steps. The metal or metal oxide catalysts fabricated using the methods are also disclosed. The generation of engineered surface defects on reducible metal oxides using a gas reduction process to serve as anchoring sites for metal or metal oxide catalysts is also disclosed. Generating engineered defects through a gas reduction process may be a relatively low-cost and scalable process suitable for fabricating efficient catalysts using a wide range of materials.
PRECIOUS METAL CATALYSTS FABRICATED USING REVERSE LOADING AND METAL SHUTTLING
A method for fabricating a precious metal catalyst may include depositing a precious metal on a base material to form a catalyst structure, performing a first calcination on the catalyst structure, depositing a metal oxide on the catalyst structure such that the precious metal is at least partially encapsulated by the metal oxide, performing a second calcination on the catalyst structure, and reducing the catalyst structure with a reductive material to induce diffusion of at least a portion of the precious metal to a surface of the metal oxide.
