Procedure for obtaining a substrate with Au nanoclusters attached to its surface, and the substrate and catalyst obtained through this procedure
Method for producing a substrate with Au (gold) nanoclusters affixed to the surface thereof and substrate and catalyst obtained by means of said method. The method consists in preparing a solution containing, in disperse form, Au nanoclusters and, also in disperse form, a substrate with a surface functionalized with a polyelectrolyte that confers a net electric charge thereon, and in intensely agitating said solution to affix Au nanoclusters to the substrate surface. This results in a substrate that has a surface with Au nanoclusters affixed in disperse form, significantly without clusters. The invention also relates to a catalyst that comprises said substrate with Au nanoclusters affixed to the surface thereof. Said catalyst is particularly suitable for use in oxidation reactions.
Olefin oligomerization using delaminated zeolite supports as catalyst
Provided is an improved process for olefin oligomerization allowing one to realize superior selectivity. The process comprises contacting a hydrocarbon feed comprised of straight and branched chain olefins under oligomerization conditions with a catalyst comprising delaminated SSZ-70. The delaminated SSZ-70 offers a zeolite layer with a single unit cell of thickness in one dimension, allowing for elimination of mass transfer in comparison with regular SSZ-70. The result is superior selectivity.
A THIN FILM BASED PHOTOCATALYST DEVICE FOR HYDROGEN GENERATION AND ALCOHOLS OXIDATION IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT
The present invention relates to a photocatalyst device obtained by thin film making on solid surfaces, wherein the device comprises of titania, optionally in the form of composite with noble or transition metal(s) or metal oxides. This device (FIG. 1) is evaluated in direct sunlight for hydrogen generation (FIG. 4) and oxidation of alcohols (Table 3) using aqueous alcohol solution through water splitting and simultaneously oxidizing alcohol to oxygenated products.
MIXED METAL OXIDE CATALYSED AND CAVITATION INFLUENCED PROCESS FOR HYDRATION OF NITRILE
The present invention discloses a metal-catalyzed process for hydration of nitrile under the influence of the ultrasonic cavitation effect. The present invention further discloses a catalyst of formula (I), wherein the catalyst is used for process for hydration of nitrile and process for preparation thereof.
A.sub.XB.sub.YC.sub.Z Formula (I)
PRIMER WASHCOATS FOR METAL SUBSTRATES
Metal substrates suitable for use as catalyst supports for catalytic converters are disclosed, as well as methods of making such substrates. A coating of boehmite particles in aqueous suspension is applied to the metal substrate and calcined. Any further desired washcoats can then be applied to the resulting calcined boehmite-coated metal substrate. One exemplary metal for use as a substrate is stainless steel.
METHOD OF PRODUCING COMPOSITE PHOTOCATALYST AND COMPOSITE PHOTOCATALYST
The present invention provides a method of producing a composite photocatalyst having a remarkable water splitting activity, which is capable of efficiently loading a co-catalyst having a small particle size in a highly dispersed manner on a surface of an optical semiconductor. According to the present invention, the method of producing a composite photocatalyst from a plurality types of optical semiconductors includes a step of heating a solid-liquid mixture containing a solvent, a co-catalyst or a co-catalyst source, and a plurality of types of optical semiconductors by irradiating the solid-liquid mixture with microwave.
METHOD OF PREPARING A MODIFIED ZEOLITE CATALYST AND PREPARING ETHYLBENZENE USING ONE CYCLE PROCESS
The invention provides a modified zeolite, a method of preparing the modified zeolite and a method of one cycle alkylating benzene in presence of one of an unmodified and modified zeolite catalyst. The modified zeolite catalyst includes zeolite with ratio of silica to alumina ranging between 5% to 95% of silica and 95% to 5% alumina, kaolinite and a binder, wherein the zeolite is modified with one or more metal oxides of Lanthanide-series of the Periodic Table. The method of alkylating benzene is one cycle process in presence of a catalyst that includes charging benzene and ethylene gas feedstock to an alkylation zone. Heated benzene and the ethylene gas feedstock are contacted in a fixed bed reactor in the alkylation zone. The catalyst for alkylating benzene is added in a catalyst zone of the fixed bed reactor.
