Processes for regenerating an at least partially deactivated catalyst that can include a Group (10) element, an inorganic support, and a contaminant. The Group (10) element can have a concentration of from 0.06 wt % to 6 wt %, based on the weight of the inorganic support. The process can include (I) heating the deactivated catalyst using a heating gas mixture that includes H.sub.2O at a concentration >5 mol %, based on the total moles in the mixture to produce a precursor catalyst. The process can also include (II) providing an oxidative gas that includes ?5 mol % of H.sub.2O, based on the total moles in the oxidative gas, and (III) contacting the precursor catalyst at an oxidizing temperature with the oxidative gas for a duration of at least 30 seconds to produce an oxidized precursor catalyst. The process can also include (IV) obtaining a regenerated catalyst from the oxidized precursor catalyst.

Methanol production from methane utilizing a supported chromium catalyst

Processes for converting methane into methanol are disclosed in which methane, water, and a supported chromium (VI) catalyst are contacted with a light beam at a wavelength in the UV-visible spectrum in an oxidizing atmosphere in a single reactor to form a reaction product comprising methanol, followed by discharging a reactor effluent containing the reaction product from the single reactor, and then separating methanol from the reaction product. Disclosed herein is a process for the regeneration of oxidative dehydrogenation (OXO-D) catalyst in an alternate or separate regeneration reactor by employing controlled steam:air and time/pressure/temperature conditions. The process avoids destruction of the catalyst, and wear/tear on an OXO-D reactor. The regenerated catalyst is an iron based oxide catalyst which can be zinc or zinc-free. The iron based oxide catalyst is regenerated in the regeneration reactor by feeding an air/steam stream over a set amount of time, preferably about 6 days to yield a regenerated OXO-D catalyst. The regenerated catalyst is activated and re-utilized to produce butadienes.

Systems for dehydrogenating an alkane are provided. An exemplary system includes a furnace and further includes alkane heating chambers, regeneration mixture heating chambers, and two groups of reaction chambers, all located within the furnace. The alkane heating chambers and regeneration mixture heating chambers can preheat an alkane feed and a regeneration mixture feed, respectively. The two groups of reaction chambers can be switchably coupled to an alkane feed and a regeneration mixture feed such that an alkane can flow through one group of reaction chambers while a regeneration mixture flows through the other group of reaction chambers. Processes for dehydrogenating an alkane are also provided.

The present invention concerns a moving bed catalyst regenerator (1) comprising a vessel (2) extending in a vertical direction, said vessel being divided into at least two regeneration zones extending along the vertical height of said vessel, in which particles of catalyst move under gravity, in which each regeneration zone comprises, in succession and in the order in which the catalysts move: a) a combustion section (CO); b) an oxychlorination section (O) disposed below the combustion section and comprising means for bringing catalyst from the combustion section (CO) to the oxychlorination section (O); c) a calcining section (CA) disposed below the oxychlorination section; characterized in that the regeneration zones are separated from each other by a separation means which is impermeable to catalysts and to gases in a manner such that the catalysts of each of the zones are capable of being regenerated under different operating conditions.
