Annular catalyst carrier container for use in a tubular reactor

In a catalyst carrier for insertion in a reactor tube of a tubular reactor, the catalyst carrier includes a container for holding catalyst in use. The container has a bottom surface closing the container, and a top surface. A carrier outer wall extends from the bottom surface to the top surface. A seal extends from the container by a distance which extends beyond the carrier outer wall. The carrier outer wall has apertures located below the seal.

Steam reforming

An apparatus for steam reforming of hydrocarbons is described including a steam reformer containing a plurality of externally-heated vertical tubes each tube having an inlet for a feed gas mixture including hydrocarbon and steam, and an outlet for a reformed gas mixture, wherein the tubes contain a particulate steam reforming catalyst adjacent the outlet and a structured steam reforming catalyst adjacent the inlet. A process for steam reforming of hydrocarbons using the apparatus is also described.

In order to keep the device submerged in the liquid catalyst, an inert ballast may also be added to the upper and/or lower chamber, such as glass shards.

Both ends of each separation part are connected to the circumferential sealing part so as to separate the inner space into a plurality of separate spaces, and the plurality of separate spaces respectively contain the reactant and the catalyst. The supporting components are contained in one of the plurality of separate spaces, and the positions, corresponding to the supporting components, of the bag body are incompressible.
