A distribution unit for distributing a multi-phase fluid mixture is disclosed. The distribution unit includes a distribution body defining a first passage, and a first distal body portion having a plurality of first slots. The distribution body includes a second distal body portion having a plurality of second slots distributed on a side wall of the second distal body portion. Each of the plurality of second slots is adapted to accommodate a baffle plate. The second distal body portion includes at least one aperture formed on a bottom wall of the second distal body portion. The plurality of first slots, the plurality of second slots, and the at least one aperture are in fluid communication with the first passage to discharge the flow of the multi-phase fluid.

A basket is located within the reactor vessel interior and contains a particulate material for removing contaminants from the feedstock to form a purified feedstock that is discharged to a purified feedstock outlet. A catalyst is located within the reactor vessel and in fluid communication with the purified feedstock outlet of the basket for contacting the purified feedstock to form a desired product.

INLET DIFFUSER FOR FIXED-BED REACTORS

An inlet diffuser for the fixed-bed reactor is disclosed. The inlet diffuser comprises a truncated cone adapted to receive a stream of gas-liquid mixture. The truncated cone includes at least one opening formed on a circumference of the truncated cone. Further, the inlet diffuser comprises a vertical baffle plate in each of the openings and at least one horizontal baffle coupled to the truncated cone to absorb momentum of the stream received by the truncated cone. Furthermore, it comprises a cylindrical chamber in fluid communication with the truncated cone and adapted to receive the stream from the truncated cone. The cylindrical chamber includes at least one slot to discharge the stream from the inlet diffuser and a splash plate is disposed at a bottom portion of the cylindrical chamber with apertures to discharge the stream from the inlet diffuser.

The hydroprocessing reactor internals (HRI) have reduced height compared to standard HRI designs. The HRI height reduction is achieved by a more open design of a rough liquid distribution tray so that the required spaces above and below the tray for vapor flow are reduced. The hydroprocessing reactor quench zone internals comprise a collection tray, a rough liquid distribution tray, and a vapor-liquid distribution tray. Fluid mixing occurs above both the collection tray and the rough liquid distribution tray.
