A system for detecting material accumulation relative to rotating ground-penetrating tools of an agricultural implement includes an agricultural implement having a frame and at least one rotating ground-penetrating tool supported relative to the frame. The rotating ground-penetrating tool(s) is configured to penetrate into the ground to a given penetration depth. The system also includes a tool speed sensor configured to provide data indicative of a rotational speed of the ground-penetrating tool(s) and a computing system communicatively coupled to the tool speed sensor. The computing system is configured to monitor the rotational speed of the ground-penetrating tool(s) based on the data provided by the tool speed sensor, determine a threshold rotational speed based at least in part on the penetration depth of the ground-penetrating tool(s), and determine when the rotational speed of the ground-penetrating tool(s) falls below the threshold rotational speed.

The press wheel has instrumentation associated therewith detecting a rolling of the wheel over a planted set. A computing device is connected to the instrumentation and to the speed monitoring device of the planter. The computing device determines spacings between planted sets. The data obtained is real-time data and is readily available to the operator of the planter so that the speed of the planter can be adjusted on the fly to maintain an ideal set spacing. The press wheel has a soft, smooth, flexible and stretchable rolling surface capable of deforming over a planted set and detecting an imprint of the planted set in the surface thereof, without damaging the planted set. A contact signature of the rolling of the press wheel over a planted set shows that the rolling on of the press wheel over a planted set is as smooth as the rolling away from the planted set.

Row digger
The Row Digger provides a tool that enables an operator of the Row Digger to remove dirt piles interfering with irrigation between crop field furrows and irrigation trenches. The Row Digger includes a frame capable of moving from a transportation position to an operation position. The Row Digger also includes a plurality of digger arms extending from a central hub and each terminating in a corresponding digging disc. The central hub is connected to the frame at a hub angle and is capable of rotation about a hub axis. Each digging disc is also connected to the corresponding digger arm at a disc angle. Each digging disc enters a crop furrow and utilizes the slopes of the ridges to create the rotation required about the hub axis and ensure a path of travel for the digging discs that removes the impeding dirt piles.
