METHOD OF OLIGONUCLEOTIDE SYNTHESIS
The invention relates to methods and kits for the synthesis of oligonucleotides via controlled, localised deprotection of 3′-ONH.sub.2 groups on a solid support.
Creation of libraries of droplets and related species
The present invention is generally related to systems and methods for producing a plurality of droplets. The droplets may contain varying species, e.g., for use as a library. In some cases, the fluidic droplets may be rigidified to form rigidified droplets (e.g., gel droplets). In certain embodiments, the droplets may undergo a phase change (e.g., from rigidified droplets to fluidized droplets), as discussed more herein. In some cases, a species may be added internally to a droplet by exposing the droplet to a fluid comprising a plurality of species.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR COMBINATORIAL SYNTHESIS AND SCREENING OF MULTIELEMENT MATERIALS
Precursors for forming a plurality of multielement materials of different compositions can be deposited on different portions of a common substrate according to a combinatorial approach. The substrate can be subjected to a thermal shock, thereby converting the deposited precursors into separate multielement materials on the substrate. The thermal shock can be a temperature greater than or equal to 500° C. and a duration less than 60 seconds. In some embodiments, each multielement material can be tested with respect to an electrical property, a chemical property, or an optical property. Based on the results of the testing, a composition of a multielement material can be determined for use in a predetermined application, such as use as a catalyst, a plasmonic nanoparticle, an energy storage device, an optoelectronic device, a solid-state electrolyte, or an ion conductive membrane.

Method of isolating biochemical molecules on microarray substrate
Provided is a method of isolating biochemical molecules on a microarray substrate, the method including providing a microarray substrate to which clusters of different kinds of biochemical molecules being classified by individual spot units are attached, the individual spots being regularly arranged thereon; obtaining location information of the individual spot in which a desired cluster among clusters of the biochemical molecules locates; locating an extraction tool for applying energy to isolate the desired cluster according to the location information; and isolating the desired cluster from the microarray substrate by applying energy in a contact or non-contact manner using the extraction tool.
REGULATED MULTIPLEX REACTIONS IN A SINGLE TUBE
The invention provided methods and devices for performing sequential, regulated multiplex reactions in a single tube without the addition or removal of contents from the tube.
Pitch process
A process for making mesophase and/or isotropic pitch. An aromatic rich liquid is charged at high temperature and pressure to a first thermal polymerization reactor to produce an isotropic pitch rich liquid which is flashed. Residual liquid is charged to a second thermal reactor to produce mesophase pitch. The reactors can be either tubular reactors or CSTRs.
