General-purpose reconfigurable conduit and reaction chamber microfluidic arrangements for lab-on-chip and miniature chemical processing
A general-purpose software-reconfigurable chemical process system useful in a wide range of applications is disclosed. Embodiments may include software control of internal processes, automated provisions for cleaning internal elements with solvents, provisions for clearing and drying gasses, and multitasking operation. In one family of embodiments, a flexible software-reconfigurable multipurpose reusable Lab-on-a-Chip or embedded chemical processor is realized that can facilitate a wide range of applications, instruments, and appliances. Through use of a general architecture, a single design can be economically manufactured in large scale and readily adapted to diverse specialized applications. Clearing and cleaning provisions may be used to facilitate reuse of the device, or may be used for decontamination prior to recycling or non-reclaimed disposal. In other embodiments, a flexible software-reconfigurable multipurpose reusable laboratory glassware setup may be realized, sparing talented laboratory staff from repetitive, complex, or low-level tasks occurring in analysis, synthesis, or small-scale chemical manufacturing.

Modular reactors comprising a chassis, reactor tubing and optionally a cover are disclosed. The chassis comprises a plurality of channels of different lengths into which a length of reactor tubing is placed to create the reactor portion of the flow reactor.
Continuous Flow Process For the Synthesis of Phenylhydrazine Salts and Substituted Phenylhydrazine Salts
The present invention provided a continuous flow process for the synthesis of phenylhydrazine salts and substituted phenylhydrazine salts. Diazotization, reduction, acidic hydrolysis and salifying with acids are innovatively integrated together. Using acidic liquids of aniline or substituted aniline, diazotization reagents, reductants and acids as raw materials, phenylhydrazine derivative salts is obtained through the synthesis process, which is a three-step continuous tandem reaction including diazotization, reduction, acidic hydrolysis and salifying. The described synthesis process is a kind of integrated solutions, which is carried out in an integrated reactor. The feed inlets of the integrated reactor are continuously filled with raw materials. In the integrated reactor, diazotization, reduction, acidic hydrolysis and salifying are carried out continuously and orderly, and phenylhydrazine salts or substituted phenylhydrazine salts is obtained in the outlet of the integrated reactor without interruption. The total reaction time is no more than 20 min.
System and method for producing ultra-high molecular weight polyalphaolefins for use as pipeline drag reducing agents
A system is disclosed for producing ultra-high-molecular-weight (UHMW) poly-alpha-olefins (PAO) for use as pipeline drag reducing agents, having improved thermal efficiency and reduced branching of the PAO. The system comprises hinged pairs of shells, each pair of shells comprising a grid of larger hemispherical voids connected by smaller hemicylindrical passages, arranged in a serpentine pattern along the surface area of the shell. When the hinged pairs of shells are shut, they form a pattern of spherical voids which can be connected to an inlet port, which receives a combination of alpha-olefin monomer feedstock and a titanium trichloride catalyst. A reactor chamber houses a plurality of these hinged pairs of shells, which may slide into slots inside the reactor chamber spaced such that each adjacent hinged pair of shells abuts the outer surface of the next when shut and inserted. The reactor chamber is cooled by an inert gas.
