Yoyo with propeller blades
09993738 · 2018-06-12 · ·

In an example embodiment, a yoyo includes an axle, a first body and a second body coupled to the axle, and a string windable about the axle within a gap between the first body and the second body. The first body includes an outer rim and multiple propeller blades that extend inward from the outer rim toward the axle. The gap between the first body and the second body is smaller than three times a diameter of the string. A diameter of the axle is no larger than one sixth of the diameter of the first or second outer rim. An aggregate mass of the first and second outer rims is at least one quarter of an aggregate mass of the yoyo, string excluded.

Orbiting bob toy having modular bobs with a recessed throughbore sheath and customizable weighting
09987539 · 2018-06-05 ·

A swinging bob toy having three bobs constrained to a string with at least the center bob being slideable along the string. Each bob is modular and consists of two hemispheric elastomeric mantle pieces, a three-component throughbore sheath, and one or two hex nuts mounted on a threaded central component of the throughbore sheath. The two end components of the throughbore sheath are flared and are non-elastomeric, while the threaded central component is elastomeric. The outside ends of the flared end components of the sheath are recessed relative to the mouths of the throughbore so that all exterior impact surfaces of the bob are elastomeric. The string has a circular cross-section and has a width greater than 50% of the width of the narrowest diameter of the throughbore.

Combined launching device for launching spinning tops

A combined launching device for launching spinning tops, includes a first launching unit and a second launching unit. Each launching unit includes a casing. The casing accommodates a spinning top holder for holding a spinning top and a spinning mechanism, wherein the spinning mechanism is operated to spin and launch the spinning top by linearly and manually moving an operating member in a predetermined operating direction, wherein the casing of the first launching unit has a first coupler, and the casing of the second launching unit has a second coupler removably combined with the first coupler, and wherein the first launching unit is combined with the second launching unit such that the first and second spinning top holders face in the same direction and the predetermined operating direction of the operating member is the same for the first and second launching units.

Mechanical assembly for control of multiple orbiting bodies
09943738 · 2018-04-17 · ·

A mechanism allowing the control of multiple orbiting bodies comprising: a bearing surface (306) which may or may not be integral to a handle (300); a rotatable section (308) free to move through 360 degrees upon the bearing; and, attached to the rotatable section, an array of two or more pendulums (314, 316) which are first whirled in coplanar orbits and subsequently, via changes made to the attitude of the axis of the rotatable section, in precessing, non-coplanar, non-chaotic orbits equaling the pendulums in number. The pendulums may be identical or have differing properties of length, weight, or aerodynamics affecting their relative tendencies to precess and may be decorated and incorporate elements which emit light and/or sound. In certain applications some or all of these characteristics of length, weight, and aerodynamics, as well as the visual and auditory components are customizable.
