The method for preparing a ferrite-based coating catalyst including mixing a support, a ferrite-based catalyst, a cellulose-based additive, and water, in which a content of the cellulose-based additive is 0.5 wt % or less based on a total weight of the ferrite-based catalyst.

ZWITTERION-RUTHENIUM COMPLEX FOR CATALYTIC AEROBIC OXIDATION REACTIONS

Zwitterion ligand metal complexes and methods of aerobic oxidation using a zwitterion ligand metal complex are provided. The zwitterion ligand metal complexes can include a transition metal salt and a zwitterion ligand, which can comprise a non-conjugated amide anion-phosphonium cation, an amide anion-ammonium cation, or an iminium cation. The methods of aerobic oxidation can include combining the zwitterion ligand metal complex with an oxidizable compound and molecular oxygen to allow the isolation of an oxidized compound from the oxidizable compound.

Chemoselective methylene hydroxylation in aromatic molecules

A chemoselective and reactive Mn(CF.sub.3-PDP) catalyst system that enables for the first time the strategic advantages of late-stage aliphatic CH hydroxylation to be leveraged in aromatic compounds. This discovery will benefit small molecule therapeutics by enabling the rapid diversification of aromatic drugs and natural products and identification of their metabolites.

Disclosed herein are processes for the decarboxylation, isomerization, hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, and cyclization/aromatization of fatty acids involving contacting a starting material which is an unsaturated fatty acid, unsaturated fatty acid derivative, or an unsaturated triglyceride, in the presence of a catalyst at a temperature at which decarboxylation, isomerization, hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, and cyclization/aromatization occurs and recovering the unsaturated organic compound product; wherein the catalyst is chloro-1,5-cyclooctadiene iridium (I) dimer. The product may contain at least about 8% by volume aromatic content and less than about 25% by volume aromatic content, and wherein the product contains less than about 1% by volume of naphthalenes.

Catalytic processes employing rhodium complexes are disclosed, wherein the catalytic processes involve an initial step of activation of a CH bond present within a hydrocarbon substrate. In contrast to prior art techniques, the catalytic processes of the invention can be conducted at low temperatures, and the catalytic compounds are themselves highly recyclable. Also disclosed are the rhodium complexes themselves and processes of making them.
