The present invention relates to a catalyst composition for hydroformylation and a hydroformylation method using the same, and more particularly to a catalyst composition for hydroformylation including a phosphoramidite ligand and a transition metal catalyst, and a hydroformylation method using the catalyst composition. In accordance with the present invention, provided are a catalyst composition for hydroformylation which increases productivity and provides superior catalytic activity and stability while lowering an n/i ratio in generated aldehyde upon hydroformylation of an olefinic compound, and a method of hydroformylating an olefinic compound using the catalyst composition. A method of producing polymer fibers and/or particles by direct polymerization of monomers without use of any external high energy sources (such as heat or UV) is described. The method may be used to fabricate polymer fibers, fiber mats, 3D polymer fiber structures, and polymer nano- and microparticles. Polymer fibers may be used to create fiber mats which can be utilized in a variety of applications.
POLYCYCLOOLEFIN POLYMER AND INORGANIC NANOPARTICLE COMPOSITIONS AS OPTICAL MATERIALS
Embodiments in accordance with the present invention encompass compositions encompassing a latent catalyst and a thermal or photoactivator along with one or more monomers which undergo ring open metathesis polymerization (ROMP) when said composition is heated to a temperature from 50 C. to 100 C. or higher to form a substantially transparent film. Alternatively the compositions of this invention also undergo polymerization when subjected to suitable radiation. The monomers employed therein have a range of refractive index from 1.4 to 1.6 and thus these compositions can be tailored to form transparent films of varied refractive indices. The compositions of this invention further comprises inorganic nanoparticles which form transparent films and further increases the refractive indices of the compositions. Accordingly, compositions of this invention are useful in various opto-electronic applications, including as coatings, encapsulants, fillers, leveling agents, among others.

The invention relates to monocarbonyl complexes of ruthenium and osmium with bi- and tridentate nitrogen and phosphine ligands. The invention relates to methods for preparing these complexes and the use of these complexes, isolated or prepared in situ, as catalysts for reduction reactions of ketones and aldehydes both via transfer hydrogenation or hydrogenation with hydrogen.
Complex catalysts based on amino-phosphine ligands for hydrogenation and dehydrogenation processes
The present application discloses novel PWNN and PWNWP metal catalysts for organic chemical syntheses including hydrogenation (reduction) of unsaturated compounds or dehydrogenation of substrates. The range of hydrogenation substrate compounds includes esters, lactones, enals, enones, enolates, oils and fats, resulting in alcohols, enols, diols, and triols as reaction products. The catalysts of current application can be used to catalyze a hydrogenation reaction under solvent free conditions. The present catalysts also allow the hydrogenation to proceed without added base, and it can be used in place of the conventional reduction methods employing hydrides of the main-group elements. Furthermore, the catalysts of the present application can catalyze a dehydrogenation reaction under homogenous and/or acceptorless conditions. As such, the catalysts provided herein can be useful in substantially reducing cost and improving the environmental profile of manufacturing processes for a variety of chemicals.
Group 8 transition metal catalysts and method for making same and process for use of same in metathesis reaction
Metal catalyst compounds are disclosed. The catalyst compound are represented by the formula (I-II and VII): wherein M is a Group 8 metal; X is an anionic ligand; L is a neutral two electron donor ligand; K 2 (A-E) is a ditopic or multitopic ligand. Also disclosed is an easy applicable catalyst synthesis and the application in different olefin metathesis processes, e.g. Reaction Injection Molding (RIM), rotational molding, vacuum infusion, vacuum forming, process for conversion of fatty acids and fatty acid esters or mixtures thereof, in -olefins, dicarboxylic acids or dicarboxylic esters, etc.
Catalyst complexes with carbene ligand and method for making same and use in metathesis reaction
This invention relates to catalyst compounds and the synthesis and applications useful in olefin metathesis reactions. The catalyst compounds of the invention are represented by the formula (I): wherein M is a Group 8 metal; X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 are anionic ligands; L.sup.1 and L.sup.2 are neutral two electron donor ligands.
