Pipette block with molded piston chambers
The present invention relates to a pipette dispensing block with an improved design for the piston chambers. In a multichannel pipetting block with a grid or array of pipetting piston of any order, the individual piston chambers are individually manufactured using the injection molding process. The individual piston chambers are assembled into a grid or single line array and held together by upper and lower plates in combination with either stabilizing posts or walls. The piston chambers are designed and assembled with a dual o-ring design at the tip and a tip sealing gasket at the bottom to provide the air-tight seal that is required for optimum pipetting performance. When combined with pistons and a motor-driven lifting plate for the pistons, the entire assembly forms a forms a multichannel pipetting block
MICROSCALE PLASMA SEPARATOR
The invention is directed to methods and devices for efficient separation of plasma irons whole blood which are suitable for point of care use in resource poor environments, in some embodiments, elements of such devices comprise (a) a sample collection receptacle (SCR) with at least one port, the sample collection receptacle capable of holding a predetermined volume of a sample of undiluted whole blood drawn through a port; (b) a filter chamber having an inlet and an outlet, and containing at least one filter capable of separating plasma from blood cells as sample passes from an inlet side to an outlet side of the at least one filter whenever the filter chamber is placed in Quid communication with a port of the sample collection receptacle; and (c) a manually driven pump operationally associated with the SCR and filter chamber for (i) drawing a predetermined volume of sample into ore SCR by a first user action and (ii) driving the predetermined volume at a substantially constant linear flow under a pressure not exceeding 2 psi from the SCR through the filter chamber and the outlet of the filter chamber by a second user action.
MULTICHANNEL AIR DISPLACEMENT PIPETTOR
A pipetting system is disclosed that includes a pipette head including a multichannel air displacement system for aspirating and dispensing liquids, a pipetting system base that includes a linear guide system along which the pipette head may be moved vertically with respect to the pipetting system base, and counterbalance means for counterbalancing at least a portion of a weight of the pipette head.
Non-Displasive Pipette
A non-displasive pipette is provided. The non-displasive pipette is configured for connection to a tip having a fluid therein. The tip includes an orifice to allow for the discharge of the fluid therefrom. The non-displasive pipette includes a body defining a chamber therethrough and having first and second opposite ends. The second end of the body is configured for connection to the tip. A plunger is slidably received in the chamber at the first end of the body. The plunger is moveable in the chamber between an extended position and a discharge position wherein the fluid is urged from tip through the orifice. An air discharge arrangement is configured to allow air from the chamber to escape therefrom and to maintain the fluid in the tip in response to connection of the second end of the body to the tip.
BURETTE
A sliding seal [4] is operated within a bore [1] by means of magnetic attraction to an externally positioned and operated ring magnet [10] thus enabling a burette to be filled through the jet [3] like a syringe and remove the need for a control tap.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR SYRINGE-BASED FLUID TRANSFER FOR BODILY-FLUID SAMPLING
An apparatus includes a housing, defining an inner volume, and an actuator mechanism movably disposed therein. The actuator mechanism is configured to be transitioned from a first configuration to a second configuration to define a pre-sample reservoir fluidically couplable to receive a pre-sample volume of bodily-fluid via an inlet port of the housing. The actuator mechanism is movable from a first position to a second position within the housing after the pre-sample reservoir receives the pre-sample volume such that the housing and the actuator mechanism collectively define a sample reservoir to receive a sample volume of bodily-fluid via the inlet port. The outlet port is in fluid communication with the sample reservoir and is configured to be fluidically coupled to an external fluid reservoir after the sample volume is disposed in the sample reservoir to transfer at least a portion of the sample volume into the external fluid reservoir.
