Integrated device with external light source for probing detecting and analyzing molecules

Apparatus and methods for analyzing single molecule and performing nucleic acid sequencing. An integrated device includes multiple pixels with sample wells configured to receive a sample, which, when excited, emits radiation; at least one element for directing the emission radiation in a particular direction; and a light path along which the emission radiation travels from the sample well toward a sensor. The apparatus also includes an instrument that interfaces with the integrated device. Each sensor may detect emission radiation from a sample in a respective sample well. The instrument includes an excitation light source for exciting the sample in each sample well.

In some cases, the systems employ an assay consumable comprising a plurality of assay sites. The systems, devices, and/or methods, in some cases, are automated. In some cases, the systems, devices, and/or methods relate to inserting a plurality of beads into assay sites, sealing assay sites, imaging assay sites, or the like.

SUBSTRATES HAVING MODIFIED SURFACE REACTIVITY AND ANTIFOULING PROPERTIES IN BIOLOGICAL REACTIONS

Methods of preparing surfaces of sample wells are provided. In some aspects, methods of preparing a sample well surface involve contacting the sample well with a block copolymer to form an antifouling overlay over a metal oxide surface of the sample well. In some aspects, methods of passivating and/or selectively functionalizing a sample well surface are provided.

System and method with fiducials of non-closed shapes

Fiducial markers are provided on patterned arrays of the type that may be used for molecular analysis, such as sequencing. The fiducials may have configurations that enhance their detection in image or detection data, that facilitate or improve processing, that provide encoding of useful information, and so forth. Examples of the fiducials may include a non-closed shape that may encode information, allow for bubbles to escape during manufacture, and provide additional advantages over closed shape fiducials.

Automation of incubation, processing, harvesting and analysis of samples in a multi-cell plate with thin film sample support

The present invention relates to the automation of incubation, processing, harvesting and analysis of samples in a multi-cell plate. In particular, a multi-cell plate including a body with a plurality of cells is presented. Furthermore, an automated crystal harvesting and processing system with a cutting unit, a fluid unit and a removing device is presented. The multi-cell plate further includes a sealing film for sealing the cells on a first side of the body and a sample film for sealing the cells on a second side of the body. The sample film is adapted for accommodating a biological material for crystallization. Furthermore, the sample film is of a thickness and composition that makes it compatible with x-rays and also with laser ablation. The design of the multi-cell plate and the automated crystal harvesting and processing system allows for several steps of incubation, processing, harvesting and analysis of the samples to be automated.

MULTIPLEX PCR CHIP AND MULTIPLEX PCR METHOD USING SAME

A multiplex PCR chip capable of simultaneously detecting multiple target genes and a multiplex PCR method using the same are proposed. More specifically, in the multiplex PCR chip and multiplex PCR method, after a plurality of spatially separated particle-forming grooves is formed in one or more reaction chambers and a probe in a solution state is injected into the particle-forming grooves, planar shapes of the particle-forming grooves are varied or shapes and patterns of particle holders respectively formed on inner surfaces of the particle-forming grooves are varied, and the probe including primers specifically hybridizing with sequences of different nucleic acid molecules is injected into the particle-forming grooves, whereby simultaneous multiplex detection is possible by allowing multiple target genes to be detected on the basis of positions and shapes of the probe particles and the shapes and patterns of the particle holders respectively formed inside of the probe particles.
