System and method for target detection with applications in characterizing food quality and improving food safety
A system, method, and platform for target detection, the system including: a base substrate; a set of sample processing regions defined at a broad surface of the substrate, wherein each of the set of sample processing regions includes: a set of microwell subarrays arranged in a gradient between an upstream end and a downstream end of each respective sample processing region, and a boundary separating each respective sample processing region from adjacent sample processing regions; and a cover substrate configured to mate with the base substrate in a coupled mode, the cover substrate comprising a network of venting channels aligned with the set of sample processing regions upon mating the base substrate with the cover substrate in the coupled mode, the network of venting channels providing gas exchange between the base substrate and an environment surrounding the microwell assembly. The invention(s) can be used for MPN assays.
ENDOSCOPIC PIPETTE AND OBSERVATION SYSTEM
The present invention provides an endoscopic pipette and an observation system, the endoscopic pipette is configured to remove a culture medium accommodated in a culture vessel, in which spheroids are cultured, and observe the spheroids in the culture vessel, and the endoscopic pipette includes a tip unit configured to be inserted into the culture vessel to extract the culture medium, an accommodation unit configured to accommodate the culture medium extracted by the tip unit, a camera unit provided between the tip unit and the accommodation unit, disposed adjacent to the tip unit, and configured to capture an image of an interior of the culture vessel, and a power unit provided in a partial space of the accommodation unit and configured to provide power to the camera unit.
Pipette tip rack system
A pipette tip rack system includes a thermoformed clamshell tip container and a dispenser for the clamshell tip container. The tip dispenser includes a base for holding the clamshell container, cover and a lifting mechanism for lifting the lid of the tip container and the cover when a latch on the base is released. The tip dispenser is configured to facilitate one-touch operation so that a laboratory work may hold a pipette in the other hand while using the dispenser, and conveniently open and close the dispenser cover to reduce the risk of contamination. The dispenser can be used without the thermoformed tip container as well.

INSTRUMENT AND METHOD FOR THE AUTOMATED THERMAL TREATMENT OF LIQUID SAMPLES
An instrument and a method for the automated thermal treatment of liquid samples are disclosed. An inter-distance between a temperature-controlled receptacle for loading with a plurality of vessels for containing the samples and end portions of optical fibers can be varied, wherein the receptacle is configured to form a thermal communication with the loaded vessels and wherein the optical fibers have first and second end portions. The first end portion and the second end portion of each optical fiber is fixed with respect to each other for transmitting light, wherein the variation of the in-ter-distance allows the vessels to be loaded to or unloaded from the receptacle and to enable detection of light from the samples contained in the one or more receptacle-loaded vessels.

Mechanical cell wounder device and related method
Disclosed is a device and related method for biological manipulation. With greater particularity, disclosed is a novel device and method for uniform cellular manipulation with economies of scale and operational uniformity. The device and related method utilize a cellular wounder (101) to uniformly remove portions of a cell monolayer in a multi-well plate (303) to create uniform cell samples with reduced time and expense to the user. The multi-channel mechanical wounder is a useful tool for performing cellular wounding by providing consistent and even denudation of a defined area of monolayer of cells in standard culture plates. This easy-to-assemble and user friendly device is most applicable for high throughput screening of samples such as in the manipulation of cells for cell migration or wound healing assay preparation.
Assay using sample thickness multiplexing
One aspect of the present invention is to provide the device and methods for performing an assay that uses the multiplexing of sample thicknesses on the same plate. The sample thickness multiplexing can offer many information that is unavailable in using a single sample thickness.
