FLUID SAMPLING APPARATUS AND METHOD
A sampling apparatus can have an elongate tube and a liquid partitioning unit, first port can receive an incoming flow of test liquid and a second port may be coupled to the elongate tube. The liquid partitioning unit can combine the flow of test liquid with a plurality of partitioning elements to define a plurality of discrete liquid samples for movement along and storage in the elongate tube.
METHOD AND APPARATUS OF OPTIMIZING PERFORMANCE OF FUME HOODS
An apparatus including a sensor configured to sense total pressure within an inner chamber of a housing, and to sense differential pressure between the inner chamber of the housing and work area outside of the housing; a computer processor configured to receive signals from the sensor based on the total pressure and the differential pressure; and wherein the computer processor controls the rate at which the flapper oscillates based on the total pressure signal from the sensor, to thereby control the direction of flow of air from the inner chamber of the housing through the plurality of openings of the blade, through the plurality of openings of the teeth, for optimum containment with ultra stable vortex inside the chamber ; and controls the rate at which exhaust damper modulates based on differential pressure signal to maintain constant face velocity at the apparatus user opening and out an exhaust opening of the housing.
Pressure determination for HPLC applications
Disclosed is a pressure determining unit configured for determining a pressure of a fluid. The pressure determining unit comprises a body structure and a deformation detector. The body structure has a fluidic path configured for conducting the fluid, wherein the body structure has a first surface in a first dimension and in a second dimension, and a thickness in a third dimension. The deformation detector is configured for responding to an elongation into the second dimension of the first surface of the body structure by generating a signal indicative of a value of the pressure of the fluid in the body structure. The fluidic path of the body structure comprises one or more first channel segments, each first channel segment having a height into the third dimension being at least twice of its width into the second dimension.
INTEGRATED MULTIPLEXED PHOTOMETRIC MODULE AND METHOD
Reusable network of spatially-multiplexed microfliuidic channels each including an inlet, an outlet, and a cuvette in-between. Individual channels may operationally share a main or common output channel defining the network output and optionally leading to a disposable storage volume. Alternatively, multiple channels are structured to individually lead to the storage volume. An individual cuvette is dimensioned to substantially prevent the formation of air-bubbles during the fluid sample flow through the cuvette and, therefore, to be fully filled and fully emptied. The overall channel network is configured to spatially lock the fluidic sample by pressing such sample with a second fluid against a closed to substantially immobilize it to prevent drifting due to the change in ambient conditions during the measurement. Thereafter, the fluidic sample is flushed through the now-opened valve with continually-applied pressure of the second fluid. System and method for photometric measurements of multiple fluid samples employing such network of channels.
PIPETTING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A PIPETTING DEVICE
The invention relates to a pipetting device, more particularly a pipette or repeater pipette, for pipetting fluid laboratory samples, comprising: an electric control apparatus, by means of which a pipetting process is electrically controllable, a movable part, by means of the movement of which the fluid sample is pipettable, an electrically actuatable motor apparatus, by means of which the movement of the movable part is driveable depending on at least one first speed value defining the speed of the movable part, a measuring apparatus, by means of which at least one measured value which is influenced by the drag caused when pipetting the fluid sample is measurable, wherein the electric control apparatus is configured for the purposes of the at least one first speed value being fixable by the electric control apparatus, depending on at least one measured value. The invention furthermore relates to a method for operating the pipetting device.
Methods, systems, and computer program products for verifying dispensing of a fluid from a pipette
This invention relates to methods, systems, and computer program products for verifying dispensing of a fluid from a pipette.
Instrument for performing a diagnostic test on a fluidic cartridge
A cartridge reader is configured to carry out a diagnostic test on a fluid sample contained within a fluidic cartridge. The cartridge comprises first, second and third collapsible blisters containing at least one reagent for use in the diagnostic test. The cartridge reader comprises an upper clamp, occupying a fixed position relative to the reader and a lower clamp, movable relative to the upper clamp, and wherein the upper clamp and the lower clamp are configured to receive and hold a fluidic cartridge therebetween. First, second and third blister actuators are mounted on the upper clamp, for aligning with first, second and third collapsible blisters of a fluidic cartridge inserted into the reader. The first, second and third blister actuators are movable relative to the upper clamp, between a first position in which the blister actuators are spaced apart from the collapsible blisters comprised on the fluidic cartridge received between the upper and lower clamps, and a second position in which the blister actuators depress the collapsible blisters, thereby collapsing the blisters and ejecting the reagents contained therein into a channel in the microfluidic cartridge.
Nucleic Acid Purification Cartridge
A microfluidic device is disclosed having an enclosed chamber containing a filter for purifying biological or chemical analytes from a complex biological sample, said chamber housing a plurality of ports in addition to said filter, as follows: a first port enabling gas communication of the chamber with a vacuum generator, via a first flow path; a second port enabling liquid communication of the chamber with one or more reservoirs, via a second flow path; a third port enabling gas and liquid communication of the chamber with both one or more receiving containers and a vacuum generator, via a third flow path; and a filter located between the third port and both the first and second port, so that a fluid entering the chamber through the first and/or second port and exiting the chamber through the third port flows through the filter. The invention also relates to a method using the microfluidic device.
