The shaft extends away from the motion disc. The platform is connected to the shaft of the actuator in a manner allowing movement transmission. The platform has a through hole and a thermal conductive plate. One end of the through hole is sealed by the thermal conductive plate. The incubation lid is movably disposed over the platform. The platform is thermal insulating. The incubation lid has an opening allowing fluid communication, and the dispenser suspends over the thermal conductive plate of the platform.

Described herein in an embodiment is a diagnostic device for detecting the presence of one or more target nucleic acids (e.g., a nucleic acid of a pathogen, such as SARS-CoV-2 or an influenza virus). In some cases, the diagnostic device comprises a substrate comprising both a reagent delivery region comprising one or more reagents (e.g., one or more nucleic acid amplification reagents) and a lateral flow assay region configured to detect one or more target nucleic acids. The substrate may be removably or permanently coupled to an inner component that is movable relative to an outer component. The diagnostic device may further comprise a sample-collecting component coupled to the outer component and/or the inner component. In some embodiments, the inner component may be moved relative to the outer component in order to sequentially expose the substrate to the collected sample. In some cases, the diagnostic device may be used with a reaction tube comprising one or more liquids (e.g., a reaction buffer) and/or a heating unit.

The apparatus includes a groove unit having a groove along a vertical direction configured to hold a rod-shaped portion of a probe along the vertical direction, and a push pin configured to move along a horizontal direction, the push pin being capable of residing at a first position and a second position. A tip of the push pin is capable of pressing the rod-shaped portion of the probe against the groove when the push pin resides at the first position. The distance between the tip of the push pin and the groove is larger than a diameter of the rod-shaped portion of the probe when the push pin resides at the second position.

The cover has a plurality of holes which allow odor to escape from the cells or material collected on the swab. When in the closed position the clips act as a clasp, which locks the cover in place, creating a cage around the head or sample end.
