A biopsy processing system designed to prevent lodging and possible loss of the tissue specimen for analysis. The system includes a biopsy container having a longitudinal wall forming an internal compartment, a biopsy bag attached to an inner surface of the container, a cassette for receiving the biopsy bag, and an automated system for removing the biopsy bag from the biopsy container and placing the biopsy bag in the cassette.

Apparatus and Method for Multiple Reactions in Small Volumes

An apparatus configured for improving retention of non-adherent cells is disclosed. The apparatus includes a plate that includes a number of elements having a first surface energy arranged in an array with an overlay, on the plate, having a second surface energy. The first surface energy results in a hydrophilic surface and the second surface energy results in a hydrophobic surface. A diameter of the elements is at least 1 mm. A height of the overlay having the second surface energy, which results in a hydrophobic surface, is between 5% and 100% of the diameter of the elements. The apparatus also includes a wall circumferential to the plate. A method for performing multiple reactions with the apparatus is also disclosed.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CALIBRATION OF BIOLOGICAL FLUX
20180217126 · 2018-08-02 ·

An apparatus for calibrating a flux analyzer comprises a first frame; a second frame; and a permeable membrane. The first frame and the second frame are connected or integrally formed. A method for calibrating a flux analyzer is provided which uses an artificial standard rather than a biological standard.

Device designed to receive a biological sample

A device designed to receive a biological sample and methods of using the same are disclosed. The device includes a leak-proof container, a sampler, and a receptacle. The container includes an enclosure, a filler and a closing mechanism that hermetically closes the filler. The sampler is positioned inside the enclosure. The sampler samples biological and/or physiochemical information from a sample and analyzes the information. The receptacle includes a disinfecting agent that is released when the receptacle is opened. An analysis restrictor inhibits analysis by the sampler. A portion of the sampler and/or the analysis restrictor is designed to shift from a first position that prevents analysis of the sampler to a second position that allows analysis of the sampler. A receptacle opening is mechanically induced when shifting from the first position to the second position.

All-in-one sample preparation device and method

Sample preparation device that allows for a complete bind, wash, elute, buffer-exchange and concentration process to be carried out without sample transfer between multiple devices. The device includes a reservoir, a column for holding chromatography media, a holder region for holding a filtration device, and an outlet. The filtration device plugs into the holder region of the centrifugal device, and the assembly can be placed in an optional holder. The assembly, with or without the optional holder, can be placed in a conventional centrifuge tube for centrifugation. The entire bind, wash, elute, buffer exchange and concentration steps can be carried out with the apparatus without any pipette transfers (and the associated sample losses. The sample preparation device also can be used for binding and washing steps, in which case the filtration device is not needed, and for buffer exchange and concentration steps, in which case the media is not needed.

Systems and trays for processing samples by a robotic platform

A system for processing samples by a robotic platform has a tray that defines a well defining a drain. The well has a bottom surface, an access port in fluid communication with the drain, and an insert adapted to be received in the well. The insert has a bottom wall and a side wall. At least one of the bottom wall and the side wall define a plurality of openings, such that an interior of the insert is in fluid communication with the well when the insert is inserted into the well.

Apparatus and method for multiple reactions in small volumes

This describes an apparatus comprising a plate with a number of elements having a hydrophilic surface arranged in an array with an overlay having a hydrophobic surface. A height of the overlay is between about 5% and 100% of the diameter of the elements. The application also discloses a wall circumferential to the plate; and a removable grid insertable into the apparatus, said grid comprising dividers enclosing a number of through-holes, said through-holes spaced in the grid to allow alignment of the through-holes of the grid over the elements in the plate when said grid is inserted into the apparatus, said dividers of the grid inserted into the apparatus form sides of wells bottomed by the plate and at least one element on said plate.
