Microbubble Generator Device, Systems and Method to Fabricate
The present disclosure relates to microbubble generator devices for deflecting objects in a liquid, systems for sorting objects that utilize such devices, and methods for fabricating such devices. At least one embodiment relates to a micro-fluidic device for deflecting objects in a liquid. The device includes a substrate for providing an object-containing liquid thereon. The device also includes a microbubble generator that includes at least one microbubble generating element. The microbubble generator is located on a surface of the substrate and in direct contact with the object-containing liquid when the object-containing liquid is provided on the substrate. The at least one microbubble generating element is configured to deflect a single object in the object-containing liquid through generation of a plurality of microbubbles.
Microfluidic devices
In one example in accordance with the present disclosure, a microfluidic device is described. The microfluidic device includes a reservoir to contain a first thermally expandable fluid, a first heater to heat the thermally expandable fluid in the reservoir, a channel extending from the reservoir and connected to the reservoir at a first opening, and a liquid volume obstructing the channel.
MICROFLUIDIC CHIP FOR COAGULATION SENSING
Example implementations relate to coagulation sensing. For example, a microfluidic chip for coagulation sensing may include a microfluidic channel, an outlet at an end of the microfluidic channel having an air interface, and an impedance sensor located within the microfluidic channel and within a particular proximity to the air interface, the impedance sensor to determine a stage of a coagulation cascade of a blood sample flowing through the microfluidic channel to the impedance sensor.
Droplet-based surface modification and washing
The present invention relates to droplet-based surface modification and washing. According to one embodiment, a method of splitting a droplet is provided, the method including providing a droplet microactuator including a droplet including one or more beads and immobilizing at least one of the one or more beads. The method further includes conducting one or more droplet operations to divide the droplet to yield a set of droplets including a droplet including the one or more immobilized beads and a droplet substantially lacking the one or more immobilized beads.
Integrated system for processing microfluidic samples, and method of using same
This patent application describes an integrated apparatus for processing polynucleotide-containing samples, and for providing a diagnostic result thereon. The apparatus is configured to receive a microfluidic cartridge that contains reagents and a network for processing a sample. Also described are methods of using the apparatus.
MICROFLUIDIC REACTION CHAMBER FOR AMPLIFICATION OF NUCLEIC ACIDS
Examples herein involve amplification and detection of nucleic acids using a microfluidic reaction chamber. An example apparatus includes a reaction-chamber circuit to process a reagent and a biologic sample for amplification of nucleic acids. The apparatus further includes a plurality of capillaries to pass the reagent and the biologic sample through the microfluidic reaction chamber. A valve control system may selectively control each of a plurality of valves to cause the reagent and the biologic sample to selectively move through the microfluidic reaction chamber for the amplification of the nucleic acids according to a particular timing sequence. In various examples, a trapping region disposed in the microfluidic reaction chamber secures the nucleic acids in the microfluidic reaction chamber for amplification using the reaction-chamber circuit
MICROFLUIDIC VALVE
In an example implementation, a method of controlling a microfluidic valve includes activating a first inertial pump at a first frequency, and a second inertial pump at a second frequency to create a first fluid flow pattern within a microfluidic valve. The method also includes adjusting at least one of the first frequency and the second frequency to change the first fluid flow pattern to a second fluid flow pattern.
Manipulation of microfluidic droplets
The invention provides methods for assessing one or more predetermined characteristics or properties of a microfluidic droplet within a microfluidic channel, and regulating one or more fluid flow rates within that channel to selectively alter the predetermined microdroplet characteristic or property using a feedback control.
CELL SORTING DEVICES
In one example in accordance with the present disclosure, a cell sorting device is described. The cell sorting device includes a microfluidic channel to serially transport individual cells from a volume of cells along a flow path. A sensor disposed in the microfluidic channel distinguishes between a cell to be analyzed and waste fluid. The cell sorting device includes at least two fluid transport devices disposed within the microfluidic channel. The at least two fluid transport devices include a cell ejector to, responsive to detection of a cell to be analyzed, eject the cell to be analyzed from the cell sorting device and a waste transport device to direct the waste fluid to a waste reservoir.
Fluid propelling apparatus including a heat sink
A fluid propelling apparatus, including a plastic compound, a MEMS at least partially surrounded by the compound, and a heat sink next to the MEMS, to transfer heat away from the MEMS, wherein the heat sink is at least partly surrounded by the compound.
