A wood chipper knife includes a knife body and, in relation to a vertical axis of the wood chipper knife, at least one cutter side, which comprises a top cutting edge portion and a bottom cutting edge portion that intersect to form a cutting edge. The bottom cutting edge portion includes a planar wood attacking portion, which begins at the cutting edge and towards the knife body is followed by a recess. The recess is a pressure release recess, which, from the wood attacking portion, abruptly falls to a bottom of the pressure release recess, and which stretches from the wood attacking portion to the knife body. A food recycler can include a bucket with a certain configuration for processing waste food. A bucket includes an interior surface having thereon a set of projections. A grinding mechanism includes a first arm connected to a rotational member, the first arm having a first distal end adjacent to the interior surface of the bucket and that has notches that are complementary to the projections. A second arm has a second distal end also having notches complementary to projections. Waste food is processed with the grinding mechanism.

A grinder accessory is useful for a pump in a wastewater application. The grinder accessory has a cutter plate and a cutting body that co-act on solids, especially fibriform solids. The cutter plate has first and second planar faces, mounted in an inlet of the pump, with a plurality of through holes and a central aperture. The cutting body is poised atop the first planar face and extends through the central aperture to rotationally couple with a drive shaft of the pump. A central hub of the cutting body has a plurality of arms that extend radially proximate to the first planar face, so that a leading edge of the arms interacts with the through holes on solids passing therethrough. A housing defines a cutting chamber around the cutter plate and the cutting body to protect them and to induce swirling action.
