A robot system has a follower robot and a leader robot. The follower robot follows the path of the leader robot using infrared (IR) signals. The follower robot follows the physical path and positioning of the leader robot. The leader robot is permitted to travel an arbitrary path or is controlled by a wireless transmitter. Relative robot positioning, being distance or direction can use an infrared system between respective robots.

A joint structure is used in connecting a first region and a second region of a robot. The joint structure includes a first member provided in the first region, a second member provided in the second region and having an engagement face that engages with the first member, and a coupling mechanism that causes a coupling force of the first member and the second member to be utilized to the full so that an engaged state of the first member and the second member is maintained. The coupling mechanism breaks the engaged state when a relative displacement of the first member and the second member from the engaged state exceeds a predetermined amount.

A sound generating device comprises top, bottom and sound generating assemblies. The sound generating assembly comprises a microprocessor, sound chip, capacitor, speaker and power source that are electrically interconnected. The sound can range from animal and/or environmental sounds, music, congratulatory messages, other types of voice recordings, bells, whistles and the like, and the length of play can be varied. When the device is struck against a hard surface, the contact in the top is depressed and interacts with a receptor on the sound generating device to communicate with the microprocessor and sound chip to generate a sound, which can persist from about one or more seconds, depending on how the sound generating device had been programmed. Repeat strikes of the sound generating device against the surface will result in a repetition of the sound.

Toys having interchangeable parts are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a toy includes two or more toy components or modules that can be releasably coupled together. Each toy component can include a (i) a body defining a sound-reflecting chamber having an opening and (ii) a fastener assembly coupled to the body. The fastener assembly can include a base and a fastener positioned in a recess of the base. The base can be positioned over the opening of the sound-reflecting chamber and coupled to the body. The fastener is configured to generate sound when the fastener is engaged to and/or disengaged from the mating fastener of another toy component, and the sound-reflecting chamber is configured to reflect the sound out of the body.

Toys having interchangeable parts are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a toy includes two or more toy components or modules that can be releasably coupled together. A battery compartment for a toy figurine including an elongate cavity configured to receive a battery. The battery compartment has a first spring connector defining a positive contact surface for connection to the battery received in the elongate cavity. The battery compartment also has a battery shoulder mounted to the spring connector. The battery shoulder defines a hole shaped to tit a positive terminal of the battery therethrough. The battery compartment includes a second siring connector defining a negative contact surface for connection to the battery received in the elongate cavity. The second spring connector is configured to elastically maneuver to lengthen the donate cavity.

The shell having an opening for receiving the body member through the opening such that the body member is substantially enclosed within and fills the shell, and the shell closely conforming to the body member. The body member is selectively insertable into, and removable from, the shell through the opening in order to provide a predetermined three-dimensional shape to the toy.
