Oil droplet flotation unit with weirs and hydraulic means
A flotation apparatus for separating oil from a dispersion containing water as a continuous phase and oil as a dispersed phase. The apparatus comprises a vessel having one or more longitudinal cell sections in its longitudinal direction, at least one of the one or more longitudinal cell sections comprising: an underflow weir, an overflow weir displaced downstream from the underflow weir, a gas injection structure located below the underflow weir or in the channel formed between the underflow weir and the overflow weir, a removal structure for removing a fraction formed during the operation of the flotation apparatus on the liquid level from the liquid level, and a hydraulic structure for hydraulically pushing the fraction formed during the operation of the flotation apparatus on the liquid level into the removal structure using a liquid stream, a liquid/gas stream and/or a gas stream that is ejected by the hydraulic structure.
Sparger Status Sensor System
A sensor system for a sparger having a housing with an inlet configured to receive a flow of compressed gas for injection of bubbles into a flotation system. The sensor system comprises a flow measurement device in line with the inlet and a movable rod assembly within the housing. A sensor and a target that move relative to each other, wherein one of the sensor and the target is located in the housing the other is located on or attached to the movable rod assembly. The sensor for measuring parameters of motion, position, and vibration, relative to the target based on the movement of the movable rod assembly. The sensor system for determining operating parameters of the sparger based on analysis of the measured motion, position, and vibration of the sensor relative to the target and flow measurements from the flow measurement device.
Separation columns for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) remediation
Separation columns and methods for PFAS removal from water resources. Each column comprises perforated trays, level-controlled gates and air spargers placed on the top of each tray. Air bubbles of optimum size injected on the surface of each tray rise to the top of each tray, separating PFAS, thus creating a PFAS-enriched foam at the top. The amount of air or other gas injected at each stage of the column is optimally determined to increase the gas-water contact time and decrease enriched foam production. The foam is collected from the surface and undergoes a simple low-pressure evaporation process to break the bubbles. Multi-stage air injection using a sparger or distributer to inject air or other gas bubbles in each tray produces higher turbulence on each tray and more fresh and small bubbles of controlled size along the column height, thus enhancing contaminant removal and reducing operating costs.
Fluid treatment apparatus and process
Liquid treatment apparatus comprises at least two chambers being first and second chambers through which a fluid can flow. The two chambers are separated by at least one choke nozzle which has an entrance in the first chamber and an exit in the second chamber. The choke nozzle comprises a converging section at its entrance, a throat section, a backward-facing step immediately after the throat section, and an exit section at its exit wherein the exit section diverges from the step. Similarly constructed mixing nozzles may be included in the apparatus. The apparatus is especially useful in processes requiring a gas to be entrained in a fluid so that the gas is in the form of very small bubbles that do not tend to coalesce and flash off such as in the dissolution of gold and other precious metals from ore and in the removal of arsenic from an ore.
Flotation Cell
A flotation cell for treating particles suspended in slurry and for separating the slurry into an underflow and an overflow is disclosed. The flotation cell includes a flotation tank including a center, a perimeter, a bottom, and a side wall; and a launder and a launder lip surrounding the perimeter of the flotation tank. The flotation tank further includes blast tubes for introducing slurry infeed into the flotation tank. A flotation line, as well as a use of the flotation line is also disclosed.
FLOAT SORTING DEVICE FOR SELECTIVE SEPARATION OF NON-METALLIC MINERALS
The present disclosure relates to a multi-stage float sorting device, including a first flotator float-sorting ores mixed with water based on a difference in density; and a second flotator provided with a column extending in a top-down direction, one side of which communicates with the first flotator to receive primary concentrates, and float-sorts the primary concentrates based on a difference in density to obtain secondary concentrates. The second flotator includes a washing water jetting section provided at a top of the column to jet washing water; a gas sparger provided at a bottom of the column to jet an inert gas; and an opening and closing section located between the washing water jetting section and the gas sparger to partition an inside of the column into upper and lower regions, and form an opening for rising secondary concentrates in the column according to a pressure state of the lower region.
METHOD FOR SEPARATING LOW DENSITY PARTICLES FROM FEED SLURRIES
In a method for separating low density particles from feed slurries, a bubbly mixture is formed in a downcomer and issues into a mid region in a chamber. An inverted reflux classifier is formed by parallel inclined plates below the mid region allowing for efficient separation of low density particles which rise up to form a densely packed foam in the top of the chamber, and denser particles which fall downwardly to an outlet.
