Sample carrier centrifuge
The invention relates to a sample carrier centrifuge for a sample carrier (24) that has at least one sample channel (26) extending along an essentially central sample channel longitudinal axis (P), having a sample carrier receptacle (14), which can be rotated around a rotation axis (R) and has a holding section (38) into which the sample carrier (24) can be inserted in a loading procedure when the sample carrier receptacle (14) is not rotating, in which section the sample carrier (24) is held in the loaded state of the sample carrier receptacle (14), and from which section the sample carrier (24) can be removed in an unloading procedure, which is characterized in that a platform (22) of the sample carrier centrifuge (10), which is embodied for supporting the sample carrier centrifuge (10) in accordance with its designated use, is oriented parallel to the rotation axis (R).
Methods and apparatus for separating fluid components
An apparatus and method may be used to separate a biological liquid sample and retrieve a separated liquid portion therefrom. The apparatus may have a tube, an insert, and a positioning mechanism. The tube may have a proximal end, a distal end, and a chamber between the proximal and distal ends for receiving the biological liquid sample. The insert may be positioned in the chamber, and may have a first end, a second end, a well between the first and second ends, and a draw tube in fluid communication with the second end and the well. The positioning mechanism may be connected to the tube and the insert, and may be manually actuable to move the insert between the proximal end and distal end to allow a separated portion of the biological liquid sample to flow proximally from the chamber through the draw tube and collect in the well.
Fixed angle centrifuge rotor having torque transfer members and annular containment groove
A fixed angle centrifuge rotor includes a rotor body having a circumferential sidewall and a plurality of circumferentially spaced tubular cavities. Each tubular cavity has an open end and a closed end, and is configured to receive a sample container therein. The rotor further includes a pressure plate operatively coupled to the rotor body so that the pressure plate, in combination with the plurality of tubular cavities and the circumferential sidewall of the rotor body, define a hollow chamber within the rotor. The rotor further includes a plurality of elongated torque transfer members supported by the rotor body and an annular containment groove.

The present invention relates to a centrifuge container for a centrifuge rotor, with a base body comprising an opening, a vessel bottom and a longitudinal axis, the opening and the vessel bottom being situated opposite each other and the base body extending with its overall length between the opening and the vessel bottom, and the centrifuge container comprising, along the overall length of the base body, a first section extending from the opening and a second section extending to the vessel bottom, the centrifuge container comprising structure non-detachably connected to the container for reducing the flow resistance, the structure being provided exclusively in the region of the second section.
Laboratory centrifuge and method for operating the same with a reversed driving motion of the rotor during acceleration and deceleration
The invention relates to a method for the operation of a laboratory centrifuge (1), wherein a rotor (2) rotates around a horizontal rotational axis (3). It should be avoided that during the start-up of the laboratory centrifuge (1) or the deceleration of the laboratory centrifuge (1) for small angular velocities and small centrifugal forces resulting therefrom due to the gravitational acceleration the product (6) is biased by resulting components of the acceleration in vertical direction which change their sense of direction. For this purpose the acceleration of the rotor (2) is chosen such that when arriving for the first time in a reversing angular position (twelve o'clock position) there is already a centrifugal acceleration being larger than the gravitational acceleration. The corresponding applies for the deceleration of the rotor after the centrifugation.
