The first tube and the second tube are disposed within the cassette. The cassette includes a first clamp section for closing and opening the first tube, and a second clamp section for closing and opening the second tube.

A method, system, and device for separating oil from oil sands or oil shale is disclosed. The method includes heating the oil sands, spinning the heated oil sands, confining the sand particles mechanically, and recovering the oil substantially free of the sand. The method can be used without the addition of chemical extraction agents. The system includes a source of centrifugal force, a heat source, a separation device, and a recovery device. The separation device includes a method of confining the sands while allowing the oil to escape, such as through an aperture.

The separation container may include a body defining an internal chamber. The body may define an opening, and the body may be configured to receive the sample within the internal chamber. The separation container may further include a seal disposed across the opening, such that the seal may be configured to seal the opening of the body, and a plunger movably disposed at least partially inside the internal chamber. The plunger may be configured to be actuated to open the seal and express the portion of the sample.

Method and device for centrifugation and filtration

The invention provides a filtering and centrifugation device, comprising a barrel, a volume in the barrel for receiving a fluid sample to be processed, a filter medium, at least one piston movable in the barrel to force fluid in the volume through the filter medium to produce a filtrate, and a space for pelleting particulate material. The device is centrifugeable, and said space is located in or communicates with the volume and is located preferably away from the filter medium such that the particulate material does not or at least not completely clog the filter medium during such centrifugation of the device. The invention also provides a method for the sterile filtration of a sample, comprising the steps of introducing the sample into the volume of such a device, subjecting the device to centrifugation to pellet particulate material contained in the sample at the space away from the filter medium, and applying force to the piston(s) to force fluid of the sample in the volume through the filter medium to produce a filtrate. By providing the space for pelleting the particulate material under the influence of the centrifugation force, the clogging of the filter medium can be avoided or considerably delayed. Further, the entire process can be performed in the same device without having to remove the sample for any intermediate clarification steps.

Each mount includes multiple transform units, and each transform unit is pivotally and reciprocatively connected to the mount and provides an accommodation means or a carrying means for accommodating or carrying a centrifuge test tube, such that during rotation of the rotor, each transform unit, in response to a rotation speed, adjusts a relationship thereof with the mount by pivoting and reciprocating, enabling the multiple centrifuge test tubes supported on the multiple mounts to rotate at a consistent rotation radius.

The method further includes at least partially enclosing the at least one inlet line and/or outlet line within a crown cavity defined by a crown assembly. The method further includes centrifuging the at least one bag adapter and the at least one flexible bag containing the liquid suspension in a centrifuge to produce a super-natant fluid and a pellet in the at least one flexible bag.
