A foam dispensing apparatus and system thereof can be used for dispensing a mixture of a resin component and an isocyanate component. The foam dispensing apparatus contains a heated hose assembly, a spray gun containing a spray head and a mix tube, and a nozzle for dispensing the resin and isocyanate components from the spray gun. Components of the foam dispensing system are lightweight and/or low cost thereby facilitating use and maintenance.

A sprayer has: a reservoir for containing a liquid to be sprayed; a compressor fluidly connected to the reservoir; a pressure sensor operatively connected to one or more of the compressor and the reservoir; and a controller operatively connected to the compressor and the pressure sensor, the controller comprising a processing unit and a computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon executable by the processing unit for: receiving a signal from the pressure sensor, the signal indicative of a pressure inside the reservoir; comparing the pressure inside the reservoir to a first threshold; and when the pressure inside the reservoir is below the first threshold, actuating the compressor for pressurizing the reservoir until the pressure inside the reservoir reaches the first threshold.

A foam spray can comprises a motor pump, a foaming tube and a nozzle. The motor pump can be used to suck air and solution and pump out the liquid-gas mixture. One end of the foaming tube is connected to the motor pump for transmitting the liquid-gas mixture pumped by the motor pump and fully mixing the air with the solution to produce foam. The nozzle is connected to the other end of the foaming tube to spray foam. The length of the foaming tube is between 10 to 500 cm, the tube inner diameter is between 0.8 to 20 mm, and the pressure of the liquid-gas mixture in the tube is between 8 to 32 PSI, thereby to provide sufficient time, space and conditions for the mixing of the air and the solution in the foaming tube to fully mix the air and the solution, and then to spray abundant foam from the nozzle.

A foamer mechanism (20) of a foam dispensing container has a gas-liquid contact chamber (21), a liquid agent flow passage (22) through which a liquid agent supplied from a liquid agent supply portion (28) to the gas-liquid contact chamber (21) passes, and a gas flow passage (23) through which a gas supplied from a gas supply portion (29) to the gas-liquid contact chamber (21) passes. The gas flow passage (23) has a gas opening (23a) that is open to the gas-liquid contact chamber (21). The liquid agent flow passage (22) branches into plural branch flow passages (for example, branches into a first branch flow passage (221) and plural second branch flow passages (222)). Each of the plural branch flow passages has a liquid agent opening (22a, 22b) that is open to the gas-liquid contact chamber (21). The liquid agent openings (22a, 22b) are respectively arranged at positions on the both sides sandwiching an extension region (26) of an adjacent flow passage (231) which is a part of the gas flow passage (23) adjacent to the gas opening (23a).

Various examples are provided related to low pressure delivery, e.g., less than 250 psi at the point of application, of plural component system from unpressurized parts A and B material supplies. In one example, a system includes a polyurethane spray foam (SPF) raw material supply including parts A and B and a fluid handling system that can deliver the SPF raw material at low pressure to a metal spray gun in metered amounts through separate material fluid paths/conduits via a heated hose length and a whip hose. The fluid handling system can also deliver air at low pressure to the spray gun through separate air stream paths so that the air is communicated to the part A and B material conduits forward of the part A and B material input locations, where they are supplied separately to a mixing nozzle that is engaged at an end of the spray gun.

In an apparatus for applying rock dust with foam to a mine wall to suppress mine fires and prevent explosions, foam and air-entrained rock dust are separately conveyed to a combination nozzle and mixing device. The air-entrained rock dust moves axially through a passage into an enlarged chamber while foam moves through an array of openings surrounding the passage that direct the foam in a helical path. The helical movement of the foam, and the reduction of the velocity of the air-entrained rock dust resulting from its movement into the enlarged chamber, enhance mixing. The mixture passes from the enlarged chamber through a restricted nozzle to increase the velocity of the mixture for effective spraying. The restricted nozzle has an array of internal flow-interrupting baffles that further promote mixing by generating turbulence, condense the stream, and shape the spray pattern.
