20210101167 · 2021-04-08 ·

A spray nozzle, systems and methods for cleaning at least one optical fiber end face of an optical fiber connector. The nozzle includes a housing body with a first end portion and a second end portion. A discharge passage carries an atomized mixture of cleaning fluid and positively pressurized air from the first end portion to a discharge opening at the second end portion. A vacuum return passage communicates with the discharge passage proximate the second end portion. The return passage receives the atomized mixture of cleaning fluid and positively pressurized air as well as contaminants removed from the optical fiber end face. A portion of the atomized mixture of cleaning fluid and positively pressurized air is diverted from the discharge passage to control the amount of the atomized mixture being directed at the optical fiber end face.

The method and system according to preferred embodiments of the present invention allows an effective delivery of aerosolized medicament (e.g., a surfactant) to the patient's lungs. According to a preferred embodiment, the method of the present invention provides an efficient delivery of the aerosol medicament (possibly breath synchronized). A glass vial in which medicaments are usually stored and shipped is used directly as a component of the system. Its function in the system is that of an intermittently pressurized chamber that can inject the surfactant into the catheter of the atomizer device. According to a preferred embodiment the delivery can be done in phase with the beginning of each inspiration. The main elements of the system are: a source of compressed gas, the already mentioned medicament vial, a catheter, and optionally means to detect the breathing pattern and a control unit.

Dispensing system for applying DNA taggants used in combinations to tag articles

A dispersant system comprises a plurality of taggant vessels, each having a taggant that corresponds to a position in a tag string and a computer controller convert the tag string into a selection of a taggant set while computer-controlled valves allow or block a flow of taggants to a manifold output tube. From the output tube, a mix of the taggants flow to form a dispersant formed according to the tag string. A nozzle disperses the dispersant onto an object to be tagged, possibly atomized with air. The taggant can comprise a DNA taggant comprising a static portion and a dynamic portion that is unique to each tag string position. Tag strings for adjacent lots might have a low Hamming distances to reduce cross-contamination and/or have redundancy for error detection and correction and selected so that consumption of taggants evens out over the plurality of taggant vessels.
