Method for forming parting line

A method for forming a parting line in a coating using an easily peelable coating material comprising (i) attaching a masking tape to a part not to be coated on a boundary between a part to be coated and the part not to be coated along the boundary; (ii) performing a process to improve an adhesiveness with an easily peelable coating material on surfaces of a part in contact with the boundary of the part to be coated and/or a part in contact with the boundary of the masking tape; (iii) applying the easily peelable coating material over surfaces of the part to be coated and the part in contact with the boundary of the masking tape; and (iv) peeling off the masking tape.

A mask includes a masking body including at least a first edge, a second edge, and a third edge, together defining at least part of a perimeter around a first surface and a second opposing surface. A standoff arrangement includes at least one projection extending from the first or second surface of the masking body. The at least one projection is connected to the first or second surface at a location inward from the at least one edge of the masking body, thereby defining a first overhanging portion of the masking body overhanging the at least one projection proximate to the at least one edge of the masking body.

FILM FOR MASKING AIRCRAFT COMPONENTS AND METHOD OF POSITIONING SAME

The invention solves the problem of protecting air-craft components during finishing. Such components are large and require masking films of vast dimensions which are difficult to handle and position rapidly. The invention relates to films packaged to facilitate transport, and to a method of positioning the packaged films on the corresponding components. The longitudinal and/or transverse portions of the films are packaged by means of at least one operation chosen from among: accordion folding, telescopic folding, gate folding, roll folding, winding around a mandrel, and winding on itself. The packaged films can have positioning markers on at least one surface and/or tear lines suitable for detaching the portions of film to be separated. The invention also concerns a kit comprising a film and a guide element for guiding the positioning of the film on the component.

A window covering assembly includes a plurality of adhesive strips that is each positionable on a window of a vehicle. Each of the adhesive strips has a mating element is integrated into a respective adhesive strip. A tarp is positionable over the window when the adhesive strips are adhered to the window to inhibit paint from contacting the window when the paint is being applied to the vehicle. A set of first mating members is each attached to the tarp and each of the first mating members releasably engages the mating element on a respective one of the adhesive strips when the adhesive strips are applied to the window for retaining the tarp on the window.

MASK FORMING SYSTEM FOR PROTECTING A STRUCTURE AND A METHOD OF FORMING A MASK FOR THE SAME

A mask forming system for protecting a structure and a method of forming a mask for protecting the structure includes a masking material having a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer sandwiched together. The masking material is unrolled across a platform and a plurality of features are generated in the masking material, wherein the features include printing, kiss cutting, and double-kiss cutting the masking material. Data is printed on the first layer of the masking material. The first layer of the masking material is kiss cut. The second layer of the masking material is double-kiss cut. The third layer remains uncut and unprinted on during the formation of the mask. The masking material remains in the same orientation during printing and kiss cutting of the first layer, and the masking material remains in the same orientation during double-kiss cutting of the second layer.

DOOR HINGE MASKING TAPE AND METHOD OF USE
20240066543 · 2024-02-29 ·

A method of use protects a door hinge from splattered paint while allowing movement of the door, because the barrel portion is covered by the non-adhesive central portion of a masking tape. Use of a specialized roll of painter's masking tape includes the steps of having a longitudinal narrow region in the center without adhesive, in between two outer left and right regions which include adhesive. This non-adhesive center region is sized to match the circumference of the pin barrel exposed on the front of the hinge when opened flat. The tape is cut at predetermined lengths to form disposable masks for masking door hinges. The same tape is used for masking at least a portion of both the front butt plates as well as all of the back pin barrel side of the hinge. The front mask does not impede movement of the attached door, which can be pivotably opened to 180 degrees.
