An apparatus is disclosed for coating a surface that is movable relative to the apparatus with a layer of metallic particles or particles having a metal-like appearance and reflectivity, the particles adhering more strongly to the surface than to one another. The apparatus comprises at least one spray head for directly or indirectly applying to the surface a fluid stream within which the particles are suspended, a housing surrounding the spray head(s) and defining an interior plenum for confining the fluid stream, the housing having a rim adjacent the surface that is configured to prevent egress of particles from a sealing gap defined between the rim of the housing and the surface to be coated, and a suction source connected to the housing to extract from the plenum the sprayed fluid and particles suspended in the sprayed fluid. In operation, the suction source extracts substantially all particles that are not in direct contact with the surface, so as to leave only a substantially single particle layer adhering to the surface on exiting the apparatus.

PRESSURE-FED ACCESSORIES ADAPTER FOR AN AIRLESS SPRAY GUN

A spray gun adapter establishes fluid communication between a fluid pump of a handheld airless spray gun and an applicator accessory. The adapter comprises an adapter body, a head attached to the adapter body, and a protrusion. The adapter body comprises an upper portion, a lower portion, a radial inlet located in a sidewall of the adapter body between the upper and lower portions, and an adapter bore having a first diameter in fluid communication with the radial inlet. The head attached to the adapter body is attached at the upper portion of the adapter body. The head comprises a cavity in fluid communication with the adapter bore and having a second diameter larger than the first diameter, an adapter outlet located in the upper portion of the adapter body and in fluid communication with the cavity, and a handle extending radially from the head. The protrusion extends radially from the adapter body between the upper portion and the lower portion of the adapter body.

METAL PRINTED CONSTRUCTIONS

There is disclosed a print construction comprising: (a) a printing substrate having an image-receiving surface; (b) a receptive layer, at least partially covering said image-receiving surface, and having a particle reception surface distally disposed to said image-receiving surface, said receptive layer optionally having a thickness of at least 1000 nanometer (nm); and (c) a plurality of individual particles adhered to said particle reception surface, and forming a monolayer thereon, the features of which are described herein.

SUBSTRATE LIFT BAR AND METHOD FOR SMEARING ANTI-STATIC LIQUID

Provided is a substrate lift bar, including: an outer lift bar which is in shape of a box structure and includes one surface having an opening; an inner lift bar which is able to be accommodated in the outer lift bar and includes a supporting surface used for supporting a substrate; an elevator structure for controlling the inner lift bar to move up and down to change from a first state to a second state and back again; and an anti-static liquid smearing structure for smearing an anti-static liquid onto the inner lift bar if the inner lift bar is in the first state. In the first state, the inner lift bar is completely located inside the outer lift bar, and in the second state, the supporting surface of the inner lift bar is substantially flush with the surface having the opening of the outer lift bar.

A roll coater can be modified by the addition of one or more needle tubes that supply coating fluid to the roll coater in discrete locations across the face of the coating roll. The needle tubes supply a localized band of coating material onto the coating roll superimposed over the uniform coating layer already present on the surface of the coating roll from an upstream coating pond creating a stripe pattern over the uniform coating layer. By varying the relative speeds of the coating rolls in the coater, the width of the stripe can also be adjusted.

FLOW-ON ROLLER COATING SYSTEM

A flow-on roller coating system includes a roller frame, a roller rotatably supported by the frame, and a depositor operatively coupled to the frame. The depositor is configured to receive a supply of coating and deposit the coating onto an exterior surface of the roller. The depositor may include an engagement portion having a contact region in direct contact against the exterior surface of the roller, and one or more outlet openings in the engagement portion are located within a perimeter of the contact region. The outlets are configured to discharge coating onto the exterior surface of the roller, which is penetrated into the roller. The depositor may include an intake chamber and a discharge chamber which are separated by a one-way valve. The one-way valve may help to meter the amount of coating discharged from the depositor body, which can help to reduce excess coating flow to reduce drippage.
