Method and system for applying a coating
A method and apparatus are presented. A first roller has a sensor that senses a speed of the workpiece while the workpiece is in contact with the first roller and moving relative to the first roller causing the first roller to rotate. The sensor senses the speed of the workpiece from a rotation of the first roller. A second roller causes the sealant on the second roller to be applied to a surface of the workpiece when the workpiece is in contact with the second roller and moving relative to the second roller. The second roller is rotationally linked to the first roller. A third roller causes the sealant on the surface of the workpiece to spread on the surface when the workpiece is in contact with the third roller and moving relative to the third roller. The third roller is rotationally linked to the second roller.
Application of self-seal and adhesive strips to asphalt shingles
An apparatus is disclosed for applying a strip of sealant to a web of roofing shingle stock as the web moves along a processing path. The apparatus includes an applicator wheel disposed on one side of the processing path and having a peripheral surface. The applicator wheel is rotatably mounted and oriented such that rotation of the applicator wheel moves the peripheral surface of the applicator wheel toward, adjacent to, and then away from the moving web of shingle stock. A nozzle preferably in the form of a slot die is disposed adjacent to the peripheral surface of the applicator wheel. A source of sealant is supplied and a delivery system is configured to deliver the sealant from the source of the sealant to the slot die under a predetermined pressure. The slot die and delivery system are configured to project a stream of sealant toward and onto the peripheral surface of the applicator wheel at a predetermined speed. This applies a coating of sealant to the peripheral surface of the applicator wheel. The moving web of roofing shingle stock engages the sealant on the peripheral surface of the applicator wheel as the peripheral surface moves adjacent to the web. This, in turn, draws sealant from the peripheral surface of the applicator and onto the web of roofing shingle stock thereby applying the strip of sealant to the web.
SUBSTRATE TREATING APPARATUS AND METHODS
A substrate treating apparatus comprises a container comprising a reservoir and a roller rotatably mounted relative to the container. A portion of an outer periphery of the roller is positioned in the reservoir. The outer periphery comprises a first groove comprising a width greater than at least twice a depth of the first groove. Additionally, methods of treating a substrate with the substrate treating apparatus are disclosed.
Methods and assemblies for applying flowable substances to substrates
The present disclosure is directed, in part, to a method of applying a flowable substance to a substrate. The method comprises contacting a portion of the substrate with a portion of a rotating applicator as the substrate is conveyed, and immersing the portion of the rotating applicator in the flowable substance to accumulate the flowable substance on the portion of the rotating applicator. The method further comprises engaging a metering device with the portion of the rotating applicator, metering a portion of the accumulated flowable substance on the portion of the rotating applicator off of the portion of the rotating applicator using the metering device, and applying a portion of the remaining flowable substance on the portion of the rotating applicator to the portion of the substrate when the portion of the substrate contacts the portion of the rotating applicator.
TRANSFER PLATE WETTING SYSTEM AND ALIGNMENT LIQUID TRANSFER SYSTEM
A transfer plate wetting system and an alignment liquid transfer system are provided. The transfer plate wetting system includes a first plate wetting device. The first plate wetting device includes an alignment agent storage tank (7), an alignment agent solvent storage tank (8), a nozzle (10) and a pipeline connector (T) configured for communicating the alignment agent storage tank (7), the alignment agent solvent storage tank (8) and the nozzle (10). The nozzle (10) is configured to spray out alignment liquid including an alignment agent and an alignment agent solvent. The transfer plate wetting system is capable of forming alignment layer with uniform thickness, thus improving display effect of display device.
APPLICATION OF COATING FLUID
Examples disclosed herein relate to application of a coating fluid. Examples include an apparatus including a first coating applicator to apply a coating fluid to a plurality of first rollers; a first transfer roller in contact with the plurality of first rollers to receive coating fluid; and a media path to apply coating fluid from the first transfer roller to a first side of a media, wherein the plurality of first rollers are shorter than the first transfer roller and are individually movable along its longitudinal axes such that they may positioned to apply a variable width of coating fluid onto the first transfer roller.
Device for lacquer transfer
A device for lacquer transfer includes a frame, transfer roller with circumferential lateral wall, nozzle for dispensing lacquer, and hardening unit, the hardening unit formed as a UV-light unit for hardening the lacquer in a contactless way by emitting UV-light, and is within an interior space defined by the transfer roller. The lateral wall of the transfer roller is transparent for UV-light, and the hardening unit is arranged such that UV-light is emitted towards the work surface upon which the lateral wall of the transfer roller rolls, to harden the lacquer after it being transferred to the work surface. Using the device, lacquer transfer can occur from the transfer roller to the work surface more reliably. The device includes a light shield between the hardening unit and outside contact surface with at least a portion of the outside contact surface provided with lacquer is shielded from UV-light emitted from the hardening unit.
Coating system with multiple dispensing needles
A coating system and method including a web path moving a substrate past a contacting element including a distribution manifold having a cavity, and a multiplicity of needle tubes in fluid communication with the cavity, the needle tubes each having a needle tip dispensing a coating material towards a point of contact between the substrate and the contacting element. In some embodiments, the distribution manifold separates into a manifold containing the internal cavity, and a removable cartridge having the plurality of needle tubes. The coating system and method can be used to apply a pre-metered coating material to the substrate.
COATING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM
A coating apparatus includes a coating member, a pressing member, an abutment member, and a restriction member. The coating member coats a sheet with a coating agent. The pressing member is movable and abuts on the coating member to form a nip. The abutment member abuts on the coating member at a position different from a position of the nip. The restriction member restricts movement of the coating member in a separation direction in which the coating member separates from the abutment member.
Sealing Blade
A sealing blade includes opposite elongated edges (30, 31) and between them a flat (32) and which is adaptable to a blade holder (17) arranged in a coating applicator (25) of a coating device (21) and into contact with a moving surface (11′). The sealing blade has a contact surface (33), which may be arranged against the moving surface and which is 5-15% of the width (W) of the sealing blade (10).
