An re-usable applicator for coating surfaces with curable liquids has a holder having a receptacle for removably supporting a blade, a blade sized and shaped to securely fit within the receptacle, the blade having a base made from a first material and a tip made from a second material, the base and tip being bonded together, and a retainer to fix a position of the blade within the receptacle. The tip has a lower edge having a W-shaped cross-section that provides two edges to level a liquid that is coated onto a surface. A post extends at an upward and outward angle from the holder and a flange extends upward and outward from the receptacle at the same angle as the post. The post has two opposing slots extending upward from a bottom edge thereof, wherein the slots are sized to slide onto the flange.

An apparatus for working a wet coating, such as render material, applied to a surface, the apparatus comprising: an actuator arranged to move an arm across a surface having a wet coating applied thereon; a controller configured to move the arm across the surface along a tool path; and a tool head mounted to the arm, the tool head comprising a compliance module and a tool mounted to the compliance module such that the tool is movable in a stroke direction towards the surface relative to the arm. The compliance module comprises a biasing module arranged to urge the tool in the stroke direction to maintain contact between the tool and the wet coating such that the tool works the wet coating as the arm moves across the surface.

The invention relates to a support plate of a doctor in a fiber web machine. The support plate (10) is designed to be removably fitted to a blade holder (16) and to support a doctor (15) in the blade holder (16). The support plate (10) includes sensor devices (18) for detecting that a drop through has accrued either upstream from the doctor or at the doctor. The invention also relates to a doctor assembly of a fiber web machine and a method in a doctor of a fiber web machine.

The rod holder assembly includes a base member having a channel opening to a first face thereof, and a rod bed insert at least partially received in the channel of the base member in spaced relation to a base wall of the channel. The rod bed insert includes a metering rod slot for receiving a metering rod, and a flank engaging surface engaged with at least one flank surface of the base member, the rod bed insert movable from a first position to a second position within the channel.

The present invention is directed to construction tools. The present invention includes tools used for applying mastic or mud to a work surface, for example, a flat box mastic applicator tool, blade assembly, and/or blade adjustment system, that have many improvements too numerous to mention all in the Abstract. The flat box mastic applicator may include unique walls. The blade assembly may have a non-uniform cross section, e.g., a blade holder with thinner areas and/or material removed at various locations along its lateral length. The blade holder may have a larger size outer end(s) to withstand bending or braking. The blade holder may have and arched shape, ribs or bumps for holding a blade more firmly, and a ridge or bump at its outer edge to act as a dam. The blade adjustment system may include symmetrical pins or posts and a tapered leaf spring. See further improvements herein.

A rod bed insert is supported in a tapered channel of a body whereby a clamping action is created during use. In another embodiment, the body includes a hinge portion that facilitates relative rotation between upper and lower jaws to create a clamping action during use.
