Droplet Ejecting Coatings
Coating compositions are provided that eject droplets of condensed fluid from a surface. The coatings include a nanostructured coating layer and in some embodiments, also include a hydrophobic layer deposited thereon. The coating materials eject droplets from the surface in the presence of non-condensing gases such as air and may be deployed under conditions of supersaturation of the condensed fluid to be ejected. A heat exchanger design utilizing the coating is described herein.

An irradiation system is provided. The irradiation system includes a plurality of LED arrays, each of the LED arrays including a plurality of LED light producing elements. The plurality of LED arrays are positioned with respect to one another such that they surround the target area of the irradiation system.

Method for producing patterned metallic coatings
A method for producing patterned metallic coatings includes an initiator composition having at least one active substance being added to a substrate. A precursor composition including at least one precursor compound for a metallic layer is applied to the initiator composition coating. A metallic layer is then deposited by the active substance. At least one composition is applied as an emulsion in order to obtain a patterning of the resultant metallic layer.
Post-Draw Tower Optical Fiber Coating Curing
Post-draw tower coating curing provides additional curing to an optical fiber coating after the fiber exits the bottom or output end of an optical fiber draw tower. A system may include a draw tower and a coating curing unit. The draw tower has at least one coating applicator. The coating curing unit may be located along a fiber path between the output end of the draw tower and a fiber takeup system.

The invention relates to a method of sealing, coating or/and aerodynamic smoothing of at least one connecting element that protrudes from a surface or/and for sealing, coating or/and aerodynamic smoothing of a surface at a gap or at an uneven connection site with a sulfur-containing SCOD sealing compound at at least one application site, especially on an aerospace component, with at least one nozzle element and with at least one irradiation unit, which is characterized in that i) a nozzle element contains a mixed sealing compound and is guided or/and mounted over the connecting element protruding from a surface, over the gap or/and over the uneven connection site, ii) the connecting element protruding from the surface, the gap or the uneven connection site is covered fully with sealing compound, the sealing compound forming a sealing compound cover essentially in the form of a sealing compound cap, a coating or/and a mound-shaped or bead-shaped elevation, iii) the nozzle element or at least a portion is raised if required from the surface having the sealing compound cover, and iv) the curing of the sealing compound is initiated with the aid of at least one irradiation unit by energy input and by release of a latent catalyst or is brought about by direct activation of at least one reaction component, such that the mixed sealing compound subsequently cures or/and cures further. The invention also relates to a corresponding apparatus, to the aerospace vehicle treated in this way and to the use of the method and the apparatus.
HYBRID LASER SURFACE PROCESSING AND SPRAY COATING SYSTEM
Methods and systems for treating components are described. The methods include using a system having a controller, a laser applicator, a coating applicator, and a sensor array. The laser applicator, the coating applicator, and the sensor array are arranged on a treatment arm that is controlled by the controller. The method includes scanning a surface to be treated of the component using the sensor array, cleaning the surface to be treated using the laser applicator, defining surface texture patterns, applying laser texturing, and applying a new coating to the surface to be treated using the coating applicator.

A method of forming a digital print on a surface (2) by applying powder of dry ink (15) including colourants (7) on the surface, bonding a part of the dry ink (15) powder to the surface (2) by a digital heating print head (80) such that the digital print is formed by the bonded dry ink colourants (7) and removing non-bonded dry ink (15) from the surface (2).
Polymer coatings
The present disclosure relates to polymer coatings covalently attached to the surface of a substrate and the preparation of the polymer coatings, such as poly(N-(5-azidoacetamidylpentyl)acrylamide-co-acrylamide) (PAZAM), in the formation and manipulation of substrates, such as molecular arrays and flow cells. The present disclosure also relates to methods of preparing a substrate surface by using beads coated with a covalently attached polymer, such as PAZAM, and the method of determining a nucleotide sequence of a polynucleotide attached to a substrate surface described herein.
