POLYSTYRENE VARNISHES, PRINTING INKS, COATINGS AND OVERPRINTS
The present invention provides technical varnishes comprising polystyrene, especially recycled polystyrene, and biofuels such as fatty acid alkyl esters and/or aliphatic softeners such cyclohexane-dialkyl esters. The technical varnishes are useful, for example, in conjunction with printing inks, especially lithographic inks, and coatings and protective lacquers, and overprint varnishes for sheet-fed inks.
Orthopaedic implant
An orthopaedic implant comprising a titanium substrate having silver deposited thereon, wherein the silver is operable to be eluted at a rate of at least 0.25 ?g/cm2 24 h?1, for at least 14 consecutive days, in use. The invention also extends to a method of producing an orthopaedic implant and use of the same.
FILM FORMING METHOD AND ARTICLE MANUFACTURING METHOD
The present invention provides a film forming method comprising: discretely arranging, on a substrate with unevenness, a plurality of droplets of a curable composition in a liquid form containing at least a polymerizable compound (a) as a nonvolatile component and at least a solvent (d) as a volatile component; waiting until each of the plurality of droplets discretely arranged on the substrate combines with an adjacent droplet to form a continuous liquid film on the substrate, and the solvent (d) contained in the liquid film volatilizes, and a content of the solvent (d) becomes not more than 10 vol % with respect to the whole liquid film; and curing the curable composition in the liquid form after the waiting.
Integrated electronic device with flexible and stretchable substrate
A flexible and stretchable integrated electronic device includes a substrate having a stiffness gradient, wherein a rigid electronic device is embedded within the substrate. The stiffness gradient within the substrate prevents delamination at the interface between the substrate and the embedded device. The stiffness gradient is accomplished by providing at least two distinct zones in the substrate with uniform stiffness, with each zone decreasing in stiffness as in a distance from the embedded device increases, or the gradient is accomplished by having a zone with a varying stiffness.
Two-part polyurethane erosion resistant coatings
The present disclosure relates to two-part polyurethane coatings having excellent erosion resistance and comprising a compound having a fluorinated segment. Additionally, these two-part polyurethane coatings can be cured under high relative humidity conditions. The present disclosure also relates to articles coated with those two-part polyurethane coatings and to methods of reducing erosion in an article, among other embodiments.
Cross-linkable masses based on organyl-oxysilane-terminated polymers
RTV-1 compositions, despite containing conventional alkoxysilyl-terminated polymers, exhibit rapid cure and excellent physical properties when they further contain silicone resins, and employ metal, amidine, or guanidine curing catalysts C1 and amine-containing cocatalysts C2 in specific mole ratios.
ANTIFOULING COMPOSITION
A binder for a marine coating composition comprising the reaction product of a polysiloxane unit A and at least one second monomer B that undergoes a polymerisation reaction with said polysiloxane unit A so as to form a copolymer of structure -[ABAB]- wherein the backbone of said copolymer comprises a plurality of hydrolysable ester functional groups that will hydrolyse in the presence of seawater.
Integrated Electronic Device with Flexible and Stretchable Substrate
A flexible and stretchable integrated electronic device comprising a substrate having a stiffness gradient, wherein a rigid electronic device is embedded within the substrate. The stiffness gradient within the substrate prevents delamination at the interface between the substrate and the embedded device. A method of fabricating an integrated electronic device having a stiffness gradient comprises applying a curing agent to an uncured polymer base material.
CURABLE COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING MONO-FUNCTIONAL ACRYLATES
Curable compositions include: a) at least one (meth)acrylate monomer or oligomer and b) at least one mono-functional (meth)acrylate monomer comprising a polycyclic moiety having at least three rings that are fused or condensed. The compositions may comprise an initiator system to render the compositions as curable. The compositions may comprise both the a) and b) components in an amount from about 30% to about 70% by weight. The compositions described herein are advantageous with respect to properties such as viscosity, toughness, tensile strength and tensile elongation. Due to their advantageous properties, the compositions are viable for a wide range of applications including coatings, adhesives, sealants, inks and stereolithography. The compositions are liquid at ambient temperature and impart a high glass transition temperature, Tg, without sacrificing other properties, such as elongation. The compositions are useful in 3D printing.
Polymer Encased Smokeless Tobacco Products
Methods for encasing bodies including smokeless tobacco or a tobacco substitute with a polymeric casing can include coating a compressed body with microfibers, applying tubular casings to compressed bodies, printing netting and webs on compressed bodies, injection molding around compressed bodies, applying a webbing to compressed bodies, placing compressed bodies into a skin forming bath, and including thermoplastic polymers in a compressed body.
