METAL COATING METHOD
The present invention aims to provide a metal coating method whereby a paint can be applied directly, easily, with high adhesion, and with cost increases suppressed, to the surface of titanium and other metals that have a hard passivated coating on the surface thereof. This method uses paint to coat a metal that has the surface thereof coated in a passivated coating and comprises: an etching step in which the passivated coating is removed using an etching solution and the surface is exposed; a diluent coating step in which, after the etching step, a diluent capable of diluting the paint is coated on the surface that is in a liquid-coated state; and a painting step in which the surface is coated in paint after the diluent coating step.

In an embodiment, the present disclosure pertains to a method of forming a self-assembled monolayer coating on a surface of a substrate. In general, the method includes polishing the substrate, cleaning the substrate, and creating a plurality of bonding sites on the surface of the substrate for head groups of an organofunctional silane molecule to bond. In some embodiments, the creating includes at least one of a liquid-phase chemistry process or a dry plasma chemistry process. In some embodiments, the method further includes coating the substrate with a silane coating solution. In some embodiments, the coating is performed in a controlled environment. In some embodiments, the controlled environment includes an anhydrous environment free of at least one of water or moisture. In a further embodiment, the present disclosure pertains to a heat transfer composition having a coating thereon applied via the methods of the present disclosure.

Water repellent coating film and product provided with same
Provided is a water repellent coating film, including: an undercoat layer formed on a surface of a base material and containing: at least one type of spherical particles having an average particle diameter of 2 μm or more and 50 μm or less and selected from the group consisting of spherical molten silica particles, spherical molten alumina particles, and spherical silicone resin particles; and an underlying resin; and a topcoat layer formed on the undercoat layer and containing: inorganic fine particles having an average particle diameter of 2 nm or more and 20 nm or less; and a water repellent resin. The underlying resin is preferably a polyurethane resin or a fluororesin. The water repellent resin is preferably a fluororesin or a silicone resin.
Method for fabricating a hydrophobic coating for corrosion protection
A method of fabricating a hydrophobic coating on a surface of a solid substrate which includes a layer-integrable material includes the steps of depositing a deformable layer of the layer-integrable material onto the surface of the solid substrate, forcibly embedding a plurality of particles within the deformable layer, and solidifying the deformable layer including the plurality of particles so as to be integral with the surface of the solid substrate. At least a portion of the plurality of particles is embedded at a threshold depth within the deformable layer prior to solidification.
ACOUSTIC PANELS AND METHODS FOR PREPARING THEM
The disclosure relates to acoustic panels and methods for preparing them. The disclosure relates more particularly to panels having a nonwoven facing and to methods for making such panels. One aspect of the disclosure is a method for preparing an acoustic panel comprising providing a base structure. The base structure has one or more edges, an outward major surface having a total are, and an inward major surface opposing the outward major surface. The base structure has a noise reduction coefficient (NRC) of at least about 0.3. The method includes disposing directly against the outward major surface of the base structure a sprayable mixture comprising a plurality of fibers, one or more binders, and a dispersive medium. The method includes drying the disposed mixture to provide a facing layer disposed on the outward major surface of the base structure, the facing layer having an exterior major surface opposing the outward major surface of the base structure.
MULTI-PURPOSE ACID-ETCHED METALLIC STAMPS AND DIES
A metallic stamp and die for the craft industry comprises a predetermined acid-etched design on a surface of a metallic plate. A first layer of a metallic paint is applied over the front and back surfaces of the metallic stamp and die. A second layer of a rubber paint is applied over the metallic paint. The metallic paint facilitates bonding of the rubber paint to the metallic plate and increases the life of the coating of the rubber paint. The rubber paint is configured to absorb and store an ink and facilitate transfer of the ink to one or more substrates, thus enabling stamping of the design on the substrate. The metallic die can be configured for a plurality of uses, such as embossing, cutting, heat-foiling, stamping, scoring, and inserting patterns or designs in a plurality of substrates.
